I have had my 2016 Prius 4 since March and I love it. I often forget how fast it is in 'Power' mode, it averages 62.5 mpg on Eco. However my friends give me shit for it, I am the bunt of the jokes. I was a BMW driver for 10 years. They even stuck a Hillary sticker on the back. Has anyone ever tried another hybrid such as the Mercedes S Class Hybrid. The manufacture claim all sorts of miracles with mileage.
No - I'd stick with the PRIUS if you want to save $$$ - an S Class is well out of my price range. Unless you wanted to investigate a Plug-In? Or i3 with range extender?
If you've got the kind of money to afford a Mercedes hybrid, you could probably get a Tesla Model S and watch your friends drool over that. But if your friends have an actual problem with a car you love, then JimboPalmer is right: you need new friends.
Some of my friends are the same way and like to crack jokes about my car. Occasionally I will as well. Just don't let it bother you or share a laugh with them and enjoy your car!
When gas is $2.25 a gallon, people laugh at Priuses. When gas is $5 a gallon and up, they overpay for them. Me? I don't give anybody the power to influence my car buying decisions, before or after the purchase. Good Luck!
