While showing off the car I accidently hit the reset button. Is there anyway to get my current tank mileage back?
Sorry. I had to take Priapus in for work and they had to disconnect the 12v which wiped everything out. I ran the tank to the normal refill level (usually one bar blinking). Then, using the ODO reading, I calculated the number of miles driven between refills. Using the amount of gasoline I refilled with, I was able to calcualte the MPG. It shouldn't be too far off what the MFD would have shown.

Reading this thread I first read "Can I undo by hitting the reset button" and it reminded me of a xbox360 game called full auto where you have a rewind button for when you crash your car

I'm keeping a lifetime average on the computer, so I reset occasionally like jeneric does. (Sorry, I don't reset, but I reset the MFD.)
Just a note. Be careful when cleaning the MFD. Don't clean it when on this screen, switch to the map or consumption screen. Have read about "premature reset," though I never experienced it myself, of course.
I'm still on my first tank and wondering if I should press 'reset' when I ultimately stop for a fill-up. What do most people do here? Reset with every fill-up, or never reset to see the lifetime average? No comment on 'premature reset'. :mellow:
In the manual, it states that the mileage number will reset to zero when you put in a few gallons of gas (2.5gal comes to mind). Apparently the average MPG does not reset. Since I keep lifetime MPG figures in a spreadsheet, I reset the MFD periodically to demonstrate trip MPG when I'm curious.
Hope you or someone reading this can help me. Just received our 2006 silver package 3 Prius. How do I get to the Lifetime MPG screen? Is this a permanent on going average, or do you u lose the lifetime when you hit reset? If so, why is it called lifetime? The manual does not seem to be to clear, as I have tried to figure this out via the manual. Delbert

My 2004 reset both the miles traveled and MPG since last refill, BUT, my 2006 only resets the miles traveled. The MPG seems to be a lifetime unless you RESET. Does this match other 2006 owners?
When I fill up my 2006 Prius, the milage automatically resets, but not the MPG. On the other hand, I don't believe the MPG shown is a true "lifetime average" though, because it responds to extreems too easily. A true lifetime average would not really budge much if you had a few low MPG trips in a row or a few really high ones in a row. The more miles on your ODO, the more firm your lifetime MPG would be. Perhaps it is an average of the latest 500 miles or something... Anyone know? -V
I've managed to accidentally hit the reset button so many times that I rarely use the consumption screen out of fear that I will accidentally lose my mileage tracking. I would dearly love to find a way to disable the reset button and actually recover the total lifetime mileage value. Has someone investigated this? I'm interested in seeing someone find a solution like was done for the annoying backup beeping.
