inlee jay's link, the sunroof was an issue. further down, someone had no problem. i guess we won't know on prime until someone tries it.
It's also possible the TSS-P unit on the windshield (the camera for LDA/PCS) may make it more difficult than a Gen 2 or Gen 3 Prius.
We're going Advanced over Premium; I want the extra safety and convenience features. Also, the delta includes some features that our 2009 Prius has, and I definitely don't want to lose any features in a car upgrade. Nevertheless, that decision is despite what we perceive to be a substantial advantage that Premium has over Advanced: Cloth seats. I guess the concept in Toyota's mind is that people like leather over cloth, but then somebody said that EcoNerds won't accept killing a cow to get real leather, so they made them out of fake leather! We live in a hot climate (Austin, TX), and in the summer, sitting down on either leather seats, or "leather" seats, is a great way to fry your thighs and back... I'd heard that the problem with the solar roof is making US roll-over requirements. Not sure what specifically that referred to (top-heaviness)?
Maybe the glass cracks and US requirements say it shouldn't crack in a rollover? Either way, at 2 miles a day on average (3 miles on a good day), we can afford to wait for an updated version
We chose a Premium edition rather than paying the extra $$ for the Advanced. For me, it was a good choice. Wish I had the blind spot monitoring and (less-so) the rear cross-traffic monitor. Not at all interested in the self parking. That last one is why we didn't choose the Advanced.
I ordered the Advanced mainly because of the : -safety of the rear cross traffic/pedestrian alert...it only takes one "save" to pay for it -Blind spot monitoring...it only takes one "miss" to pay for it. -the much superior JBL sound system...there is a youtube video extolling its virtues -the remote climate control and charging ability -the color HUD plus: Homelink among other features like heated steering I think it is well worth it and if you do not like a particular feature, like park assist, you certainly do not need to use it
The rear pedestrian alert/rear cross-traffic alert has saved my nice person 3 times. Or I should say, has saved my Priuses nice person. Oh well, somebody's nice person got saved and that's the most important thing. We've got shopping centers down here where idiots drive over 40 miles an hour in the parking lot. If you're sandwiched between two lumber barges, it becomes a bit difficult to safely back out. I've come to really appreciate this feature. The HUD is great, and of course the Blindspot Monitor saves you from a 4-door sedan's blind spots. I'm glad I Advanced! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
In retrospect I would have chosen the Advanced. My Premium is just fine, but I'd like the missing features, especially blind spot. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Admittedly, I partly ordered Advanced over Premium because my current Gen-2 has homelink/auto-dimming mirror, and I sure as heck don't want the new one to be missing any features the old one has! But the extra safety features, rain-sensing wipers, better stereo, the HUD, and the rest you folks mentioned were a big recommendation too. iPhone ? Pro
I ordered the Advanced mainly for the safety features, but the HUD and the homelink are pretty good to have too.
Ouch... BE CAREFUL!!!! It has been my experience that when I get something with new features that seem kinda cool, they become absolutely must-haves in the next car which brings up the sticker price. It's a vicious cycle that never ends! I would never-ever dream of buying a car now without auto wipers.. Oh, and auto brights? What a pain to have to push the stick forward to turn them on when you can buy one that does it automatically?... Don't even get me started about the Importance of a HUD... No HUD, no deal! On and on it goes.... LOL! Hello, my name is Steve and I have HTAD..... That's Hi-Tech Acquisition Disorder.....
Dynamic cruise control on my 2010 Prius raised the bar considerably on what cars I would accept! I *will not ever* own a car without that again!
