    Hello,

New here. Just got the Two Eco and loving it!

Does anyone know if it's possible to convert/change the LED headlights to HID for the 2017 Prius?

What is wrong with the LEDs that HIDs would fix?

Since all the gen4s have LED, I don't think a change would be possible without spending a fair amount of money. New cases and lens will have to be made for a HID light, then the power supply for the headlights might have to be upgraded.

    BAD idea.

    WHY ??

A LOT of money and work would be involved to gain what........a unique "look" ??
Besides that, it would certainly void at least part of your warranty.

This is a Trim Two. It uses the headlights as DRLs too.
I guess they like needing to change the HID bulbs all the time. I know that was an issue with Gen 2 Prius.

You'd have to upgrade the wiring - and possibly the software. Being a solid-state device, an LED can become part of a computer system. Plus, there's a chance that HIDs would melt the headlight.

I'd start with asking your insurance company if they'd offer FIRE cover.

LED is the way of the future. Bright, low power consumption and long life. Why go back to HID?

Hmmm, didn't realize it would be difficult. I thought it would be just a plug and play installation.

I have HID on my other vehicles and it's brighter, visibility of the road is better and surprisingly, the color on the HID is actually not as blue and blinding as the Prius LED.

Oh well. Thanks for the help guys!

The Insurance Institute has started testing headlights. Most vehicles fail, but the 2017 Prius is "Acceptable". One thing they test is glare.
