why my Prius parking brakes get stuck if temperature goes below freezing? Is it normal? Or is something failing?
I drove it for two blocks and now abs light came on and Brake light came on, , I'm scared to continue my drive
is the weather bad? how many miles on her? do you inspect and lube the caliper pins every 30,000 miles?
Brake light will come on when parking brake is applied. Maybe it's stuck, at least partially applied still? Yeah, there is something in the Owner's Manual about the possibility of the parking brake freezing, staying applied, in very cold temperatures. FWIW I've never experienced problems llike this, but temps are never below -10C (approx 15F) here. Maybe high humidity coupled with extreme cold make it more likely? How cold is it in your region? Page 262 of Owner's Manual. Again, never experience problems, but I guess it can happen:
Has 70k plus miles, I will check that, thanks to all ur comments. I will definitely not apply parking brake next time
slush probably gets in there and freezes. but it's worth having a thorough brake inspection and lube if necessary. if it seems to roll okay in neutral, you can probably drive it.
Hey, new to the Prius and the internet. Double whammy for me, this morning my 2005 Prius started...shivering and the check engine light came on every one I talk to says not to worry "they do that" Is this true? Little help please.
Thank you, the problem started Saturday morning and stopped Sunday morning, now it's doing it again. I plan on running a diagnostic on it today, great car but way beyond my limited abilities any advice is welcome.
What is it doing? If it's just a check engine light and you're not noticing anything else I wouldn't get yourself too worked up over it. Those lights are almost something related to emissions equipment. So get it checked but if you're not noticing anything else try not to get stressed out over it. Could be something as simple as a gas cap that isn't sealing correctly. Until you have the diagnostic code there's no way for anyone to take an educated guess at what it might be.
