    I agree. I'm sorry.

I just reread the brochure in post 24. Although your mileage may reach 25K, you only get 4 maintenance sessions. Showing the 25K maintenance as a 5th one confuses things.
The inspections I mentioned in post 38 are part of the required maintenance but are not mentioned on the brochure. possible for aesthetics. We will not know until somebody tries to claim the free 15K service.

EDIT: The online brochure is different but does not indicate the extra 15K parts.

Free inspections are a mixed blessing. A few things that have been reported here:

    1. Broken engine undercovers: either the the small flap at oil pan broken off, or damaged/missing plastic fasteners. This should hopefully abate with 4th gen, which has a loose (not hinged) panel at the oil pan, attached with more durable screws.

    2. Overfilled oil. Again, maybe 3rd gen specific, where the spec with oil filter changed is 4.2 liters (4.5 qts?), that a full 5 bottles are put in. Not too serious, mostly confounding.

    3. Terrific over-torquing, of: lug nuts, drain bolts, oil filter.

    4. Oil filter absent. Yes: first DIY oil change, owners remove the housing, and there's nothing in there.

My dealer said free for 3 yrs. 2 from Toyota + 1 from the dealer. Every 5,000 miles for semi-syn or extra charge for full syn. I will stay with the semi syn, for at least for the 1st few changes, then probably switch over to the full syn.

I like clean oil, for break-in.

I don't believe you can get 0W20 in "semi-syn", so could be something like 5W30 they're using. Not the end of the world.

FWIW, our local dealership sells bottled liters of Toyota 0W20 (full synthetic) for $5.91 (current Canadian price). And I buy the same oil in bulk for $4.50. So when I hear about a premium charge for synthetic it's a little puzzling, maybe just cheaper up here, do not know. The third party oils, Mobil, Pennzoil, etcetera, are hard to find, in US quart bottles, and expensive as hell.

My new vehicle purchase from San Francisco Toyota came with a premium prepaid maintenance agreement - 5 years/50,000 miles. This includes all dealer services and roadside assistance. And I did not pay extra $$ for this, in fact they gave me a great deal 22% off msrp. I feel like I scored! I look forward to the 5 minor service and 5 oil change services, and coverage into 2012. However, I made a poor choice for my first service with downtown Oakland toyota.. I brought it in for the 5K and rattling issues covered under warranty. They kept my car for 8 days, I called them 4 times, they barely addressed the warranty issues and failed to perform my 5K service properly. Tire pressures were not even set!! Way off. Mad!
