Does your Prius Have a Name?

I call it "my spaceship"

 

my wife and I are about to get our new silver or blue package 3, and I'd like to name it Papa Squirrel, after a thoroughbred racing horse i won $6 off of at Santa Anita a couple months ago. my wife doesn't want to name it though. she doesn't think we should name our cars. whatever. i'm gonna call it papa squirrel anyway.

I think it might be "little car."

My previous car was a V6 3.0L Maxima. So when the new Prius revs its way up a hill, I find myself saying encouragingly, "Go, little car, go!"

both names are from mythology/ stargate sg-1

 

My old car, that I still have, was the "Beast" so when I got the Prius her name was Belle. My daughter is a Disney fan and when she was growing up it was a favorite. So it is Belle, and the Beast.

 

Bruce, after the shark in Jaws, because of the way he can sneak up on people...now we gotta find someone to help us reprogram the horn with the bruce sneakin' up on people theme music. (And, before any asks--it is NOT the Monty Python pooftah Bruce that we had in mind!)

 

My car is Shiva, the primordial god or the supreme absolute. The navigation lady is Shakti, Shiva's creative power.

 

Most of the time it's called "my wife's taxi" since I'm always driving her around so she doesn't waste gas in her car.

When I'm in my geeky hybrid mood I call her "Hyper Hybrid" such as when I'm going 85 MPH and flying past everyone. "Go Go Hyper Hybrid"

Don't make fun of me.

 

I really had not been able to decide on a name until today. I was at the dealership for my routine service. When I pulled in, the man asked me about my antenna, wanting to know if it was for XM radio. I told him it was not, just a shark fin antenna. He looked at me a bit strangely. Later, I was paged to the service bay as the tech had a question. The man I originally spoke with saw me going out there and said "The Shark is still on the rack". So, I guess my car will now be known as "The Shark", at least until something better comes along!

 

Pygmalion because I would love it if she morphed into a Mercedes Gullwing......but kept all her basics

We named our's Lewie after the dealership (Toyota of Lewisville) mainly because of couple of really funny things that happened during the "adoption" of our new baby.

We had just gone to the army navy store and picked up a gas mask (to finish off a costume) so it was sitting on the dash when the salesman took my trade in back to appraise it. On top of that, I have a password ID token on my key chain (called Secured if anyone knows what that is) that looks pretty sophisticated. During the test drive, the salesman asked what I did for a living nervously, expecting me to say I worked for the CIA or FBI.

The other funny thing was having our sales guys walk over another sales guy and take the FOB out of his hand because Lewie was mine.

So, Lewie it had to be.

Yes, he likes to stare. He's good at keeping my cheap sunshade from sliding off my window.

I named my prius Marin because she's seaside pearl and it's suppose to mean "of the sea". I grab it from a baby name site and from a japanese friend... I think there's also a county in CA named Marin?

 

Her name is pygmalion because I was hoping that with a little training she would morph into a gull wing mercedes (keeping of course her integral self)....
