Hey everyone, I've been noticing some issues with the touchscreen on my 2007 Gen2. Sometimes when I touch the screen, the unit doesn't respond. Other times, I need to touch slightly above the area I am supposed to touch in order to get the correct response. It doesn't happen all the time, but more than just occasionally. I asked my local dealership about it and they say the screen probably needs to be replaced (something like a $2,000 fix). I've also heard that perhaps recalibrating the screen could help. That said, anyone else have this kind of issue before? If so, what did they do to fix it?
If you press and hold the info button and turn the headlights on and off three times to get into diag mode you can calibrate the display from there.
I was able to get into the diagnostics screen, but couldn't figure out how to calibrate the touchscreen. I was able to run diagnostics on the touchscreen (to see if it was working), but I didn't see any options for calibrating the screen.
I'm having a similar problem with my 2006 MFD, although mine is worse. My unit responds to the position 3" to the right of wherever I touch, meaning left half of the screen is unaccessible, including the info button to get into diagnostics. I think a re-calibration feature would work, if that feature existed and I could get to that screen somehow. If anyone knows how to reset the unit to factory default settings or immediately get to X-Y touch coordinate calibration, I would love to know how. Luckily I can get by by using the buttons on the steering wheel and Auto A/C, but I'm planning to sell the car soon and think this will be a problem (makes NAV useless).
I was having trouble with my 2007 MFD touchscreen, luckily a google search lead me to this link: [GRRRR I've not been on the board long enough to post links] Google search "how to access Prius 2007 diagnostic menu" the link you want is: "2007 Prius - Easter Egg - Andrew Daviel" Which gives you instructions on how to reach the "Diagnostic Menu" which many people have found, BUT it's once you are at that menu you can then reach down to a next level menu called "Product Diagnosis Menu" and it is on that menu you can see "Calibration" as an option. Once I was able to navigate to the screen, it took several tries as my touch screen was very much out of alignment, it fixed it right up. Hope this helps others!
I will try some of these Touchscreen hints. I have 2008 Prius, no problems with Touchscreen until last week when my battery died and we recharged it. After that, Touchscreen no longer works. It will come on when pressing a control such as Climate, for 10-15 seconds, and then it turns black again. It seems to be connected to the battery recharge. Sure hope it can be recalibrated and not need an expensive replacement!
How did this work out for you? I'm having similar issue but it seems to be with bumps in our wonderful county roads.
