I'm curious what each of you use for mounting your phone in your Gen 4. I tend to find the windscreen is so far forward that my existing windscreen mount leaves the phone set too far back, which means I have to stretch my arm to touch the phone. In addition, I'd prefer to avoid mounting the phone on the windscreen if possible, I was looking at mats that would sit on top of the dashboard that can hold the phone securely, but would welcome recommendations if you've found one that works well. I tend to use two phones. One for navigation, and another for my calls. I did see an article that showed a car mount that brings the phone close to the driver (pic attached), it was a general news piece so didn't tell me the brand. Thanks in advance.
The best mount I have ever used is the Popsocket which is available from them directly or through Amazon.
This is the mount I use, sourced from Amazon. It's an ikross. I like it, and it holds either my iPhone or my iPad Mini. The mount is very stable and easy to secure in the cup holder. Click Here for Amazon Link.
ProClip USA with a suction mount to the side glass panel like for Veliksam's above. For me this is a good position to brace my arm for more accurate touch screen use, while not obstructing views and airflow. There is a version which will allow you to trail a connection to the USB charging point.
It's the 3. Really easy to use, one handed mounting and removal of phone. Very good suction to glass, doesn't move at all. I normally would never spend that much on a mount but this one was worth it. Got it on Amazon with prime shipping.
I lay my phone on the QI spot. I don't have QI; but it is handy and easy to get when exiting the car.
Thanks, but how big is your phone? Mine's 6 inches, a big Nexus 6 which I assume is about the same size as an iPhone 7 (+).
One thing to keep in mind when mounting anything is to avoid areas that might cause the device to become a projectile if there is an airbag deployment and cause injury. That, in my opinion, would rule out the side window, although that looks like a neat option.
That's a great observation. Maybe I should just mount on the dash behind the wheel or use the CD player mount. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks for that, V. A 7 Edge is high on my wish list..... .. maybe if Santa is watching this thread....
I've tried the Ikross long-arm, in-cupholder device off Amazon. It's ok, but gets in the way of you're carrying a passenger. Of course it's not helped by my (relatively) big phone tending to shake the cupholder mount loose after a few bumps. Let us know what you try and how you get on with it please.
I've been using the S7E for 3 months and I'm tired of it already. Now I really want to get a Oneplus 3T.
