Happy New Year everyone. On my 2016 PC1 which had no rear speakers I added these components..... NVX XWS 1625 16GA. SPEAKER WIRE NVX VSP65 SPEAKERS and a Metra 71-1761 rear speaker connector . I am very disappointed with the results. I need to fade almost all the way to the rear to hear them. When I fade all the way rear in comparison to all the way front these NVX speakers have very little bass or volume compared to the front stock speakers. These speakers should sound better than stock at least. I have no doubt that my install is correct and I also put sound deadening on 50% of the outer door skin and as much as possible on the inner skin. My suspicion is that the stock head unit is not not giving equal power to the rear. Does anybody else have this experience? Any thoughts on what could be going on? Could the 16ga. speaker wire have anything to do with it? Thanks for any insights.
I had a 2014 C1 and wired rear speakers with a Corolla touch screen (2014 C1s did not have touch screen head units). I noticed the same issue. I added an amp. Problem solved. My 2014 got totaled and now I have a 2016 C2 and I am less than impressed with the rear door speaker volume still. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I'm happy with my rear speaker output, I installed a set of Rockford Fosgate P1675's. I'm also running the stock radio. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Hey old #7 , thanks for the reply. Does your 2016 c2 have the stock head and rear speakers? You say you are not impressed with the rear volume , is that because of the need to fade mostly rear to hear them as I have described. Just trying to determine if this is a normal issue or if I have some other thing going on. I guess my next step would be to swap the front and rear wiring connections at the head to determine if my new speakers are performing properly.
The C2 is 2 weeks old and the audio is all stock. I'm not impressed because to hear front and rear evenly I have to fade pretty far to the back, at least for my hearing and liking which is subjective person to person. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I'm using the corolla radio with aftermarket rear speakers and I dont have a problem with the sound. I have it set to a fade at about 3 to the rear and it sounds great.
