In America I'd bet Los Angeles. There are more green people in the Bay Area, but but by sheer volume, LA is the champ. Worldwide, probably Tokyo. Anyone have any real facts?

You mean hard facts? Or from observation?
If it's from observations, I'd have to say Palo Alto/Mountain View, CA.

(Explaination could be the large number of tech companies there.)

While I'd agree that there is more prius per capita in the likes of Palo Alto, or pretty much any bay area community, I'm thinking who has more in just total numbers?

I'd agree w/the former but I still think LA would be the champ in total numbers. The city of Los Angeles has 3.8 million people per http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/06/0644000.html. Mountain View has 69K people (I work there but live in San Jose) http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/06/0649670.html. Palo Alto has 57K people per http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/06/0655282.html.

If you have a walk around downtown Victoria, BC, you'd think that the city has been intercepting all the Prius coming in from Japan. 90% of the taxis in this tourist driven city are Prius. There are a LOT of taxis.

We have four in a village of 600 people; not many, but pretty good on a per capital basis. :)

    Shallow Alto, LOL

I'm quite sure there are more Prii in San Francisco.

We've got green and eveything else too! Looking out my front window (SF density you know) I see two, and my back window I can see one - parked. There are so many on a given commute we don't even bother waving anymore.

One day, in 2005 no less, my son and I were standing at the intersection of Junoperra Serra (sp), Sloat and Portola (a five-way intersection) and counted 26 Prii waiting for a bus that runs about every 15 minutes.

Of course, this is very unscientific but at an average speed of 35 mph, that equates to 1 prius every 1/3 mile on an average commuter street, how about dem' numbers?

I would say San Jose, Ca... after all. the people who live here work in the rest of the bay (mountain view, etc) I know a few personally who have a prius around here. I've counted on average... 3 in sight at all times at my local shopping center. i was only counting the visible half from my work. the other half is bigger (safeway) and often has more prius parked over there.

i believe the largest shipments are sent to california. The bay area as a whole probably takes the largest.. but city wise.. L.A.

i just see a lot here though. :)

I'd put my money on Berkeley. Especially around the REI parking lot.

Haven't been to Berkeley since Priuses were introduced, but I still doubt it. It has a population of only ~102K per http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/06/0606000.html.

I'm always counting them while i drive around LA. Certain neighborhoods have particularly high densities, such as Culver City, the Hancock Park area, Santa Monica, West Hollywood....

I've thought having a Prius-counting contest would be fun. or maybe i'm a big dork. now that they are much more common it would be too easy in LA at least, but when they were more rare, I thought it'd be fun to have a contest where you have to shoot pictures and post them on a website to win the contest, etc.

According to the south park hybrid episode, the city with the most Priuses (Prii?) would be San Fransisco becuase in general they say people are more progressive there. In the real world I'm glad to see lots of Prii popping up all over the place. Even here in Idaho I see about 5 Prius each day and I honk and wave at every one of them...

According to that episode, South Park would be a leader as well. Rember all the smug. Also, it did not show much smug coming from LA except from George Cluney which is probably is not right. LA has more Priuses then that.

Ha. I knew it. Los Angeles is the highest.(admittedly not per capita though).

I'm not sure that I would use the South Park episode as a reliable source, because it also suggests that Prius owners smell their own farts. We could start a poll on FHOP to ascertain the truth in that, but I don't think I want to hear the answers.
