saw my first prime today, a grey following me home from the dump. wasn't sure from the front, but when i turned and looked in the mirror, saw the taillights. very sharp!
yes, a misnomer from the past. all our dumps/lanfills are now golf courses, parks and playgrounds. we now call it the 'recycling center', which means you separate everything in bins, and then haul it all to arkansas and bury it.
That wasn't me... though, I was driving a Prime wildly today. I got a chance to meet with my salesperson and we took the dealer's fleet model out for a spin. It was a lot of fun. I took advantage of the full battery-pack. With the heater on, I hit the nearby highway. Whoa! The increase in EV power and the quieter interior sure was nice. Prime's upgrade over the PHV model will certainly win over a lot of fence-sitters. Those not interested in Prius sure are in for a surprise from the one with a plug. The effortless electric-only driving makes the sale simple. For those who take a deeper dive into the test-drive experience, find yourself a small roundabout. The one near my dealer was really fun. I hit it hard too, thrilled about how much of an improvement the gen-4 design brought about. The reduced body-roll, combined with a lower center-of-gravity from the battery-pack, sure made that a key experience. It will win over the naysayers. We ended up going back for a second round. Once simply wasn't enough. What I especially liked was the wide-array of small improvements, like adding cupholders in the rear doors and the folding-seat redesign. The view out of the dual-wave rear window was astonishing... no distortion and increased visibility. What new customers will like is Toyota's approach to simplifying the interface. The intentional de-emphasis to details enthusiasts normally get hung up on are presented in terms easy to understand & follow. I hope mine gets delivered soon. If not, I'll manage. The wait is totally worth it.
Have had several long trips here in the Midwest over the last couple weeks. Have kept an eye out for a Prime on the road. No sightings so far.
I've actually seen 2 around my work while getting lunch. One had Carson Toyota plates and another Roseville Toyota.
Saw my first fellow Prime in South Jersey today...traveling south on 295, bright red, glistening in the sun. Came up behind me just as I was slowing for my exit.
Saw one on the way to work a week or so ago. It was going in the opposite direction but had just made a left turn, so it didn't zip by before I could spot it. It took me about two seconds to decide it really was a Prime. One second later, it was gone.
Spotted my first one last night in Chicago suburbs. Red Premium or Advanced.... license plate said Maryland.... so probably not from a local dealer. The taillights look like lips, that caught attention first. Ordered mine weeks ago... still waiting on VIN number. Patience.......
Made a road trip around the Bay Area yesterday and saw TWO primes. One white, one magnetic grey (so is mine) in Tiburon.
So robins are snowbirds. Get them headed North. They are a better predictor of Winter being over than that big squirrel in Penn.
