Well I pulled the trigger on a new to me Prius. I do about 95mi of commuting a day (round trip), and needless to say my Mazdaspeed3 wasn't exactly an efficient car at about 22-23 mpg. I'd had the Mazda about 9 year and put 140,000 miles on it. It was an awesome car and was great on maintenance, but with my new commute and a growing family I needed something way more practical. So I pulled the trigger on a 2012 Prius III with 25k on the ticker. I feel I got a great deal on it; it was 13k with title tax and tag 15k out the door. If you figure in my fuel savings over my previous car, the payments are only $130 a month. I've put about 210 miles on it in the past two days and have averaged about 45-46 mpg. Still have one or two bars over half a tank. I am very excited to spend many years with this car, and look forward to learning a lot from this community. R.I.P. Mazdaspeed 3 2007 - Dec.14, 2016
Just so you are a proper Pri owner the Roman numerals were only used in 2010. Yours is known as a 2012 Prius Three. It sounds like you got an extremely good deal. Welcome, enjoy and best of luck. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
At 30,000 miles: Engine air filter change Cabin air filter change Transaxle fluid change (Possibly) Lubricate brake caliper sliding pins The bottom two are not Toyota-specified, but a good idea to maximize the car's longevity
Good to know, I'll probably hop on those sooner rather than later and shouldn't take me to long to do.
A complete brake maintenance, including caliper pin lube, is on the US schedule: every 3 years or 30K miles. It's a little vague, doubly so because the Toyota Repair Manual does not show implicitly an "inspection" section, just a complete tear-down. I would lay the confusion on Toyota's doorstep as much as anything. Anyway,: The above is different than the "visual" inspection usually specd, at every 5000 mile or 6 months. That basically just a look over while the tires are being rotated.
