Any help from the general community would be great on my issue. Just a few hours ago while traveling in traffic on the 5 fwy in Los Angeles a fast traveling motorcycle clipped my driver side mirror on my new Prime. When it got bent back from the force the out casing for it popped off onto the freeway, I was not able to retrieve the pieces. So now thanks to this mans carelessness I now have the joy of ordering the parts needed to repair my side mirror. What I was able to notice from just a glance is the outer casing is made up of three pieces: the color matching shell, a small chrome strip and the black base that covers the lower half of the mirror. If I am missing anything please let me know. My questions are, to the auto or teardown knowledgeable, how are all these pieces held together? Are they snap in place? Should I just let Toyota do it since I am unsure of how to repair? Is there somewhere online that can help me: a diagram, video, pictures? It seems like most of the pieces are similar to the 2016 Prius, can I just order those? Except for the shell that has to color match my car.
I was unable to find parts for the Prime, but the attached shows a 2016 Prius drivers side mirror assembly blow out. Illustration is with no blind spot monitoring and no mirror signal indicator. Thanks this helps. I will be able to reference some of these parts with my local Toyota dealer and see how much they will charge me.
I was able to order the parts to repair the outside housing for my driver side mirror. I had to order online from a dealer in Georgia (I am in San Diego) cause most of my neighboring dealers wanted about three times the price of what I just paid for the parts. Also I will be getting it sooner than local areas cause the colored coded part is back ordered on the west coast, damn myself for getting the blue magnetism. Now can anyone help or suggest on how to assemble the parts together please.
I finally got the pieces I need thru mail for my driver side mirror. I was a little apprehensive but figuring out assembly of the pieces was not hard. Once you find the order they go in they all snap into place. My Prime is back to its good old self.
Glad you got it repaired and it wasn't too agonizing. Was the part itself expensive and would you recommend this Georgia dealer again? I live in OC. iPhone ?
Depending where you get them the parts can be expensive. A local San Diego dealer and others I called wanted over 50% more for the parts I paid online from Georgia. I did find a dealer in San Diego that was selling close to what I paid but it was going to take much longer to receive. To answer your question, yes the Georgia dealer was very helpful on the phone and easy to order online. Important note: it is to your benefit to know the part numbers to help you shop around.
Any chance you can attach a few pictures before and after putting together? Or can you describe how to take it apart? iPhone ?
