I have been charging my prime throug Charge Point for a little over a month and I have received email regarding to my charge time, " We wanted to let you know that your vehicle, which is charging at xxxxx, is drawing very little power. Typically, this means it's fully charged, however, it may also indicate that your vehicle is configured for delayed charging. Your vehicle has accepted 6.40 kWh of electricity and has been plugged in for 02:25:17 (hh:mm:ss). If you would like to disable these email alerts, please follow these steps: Login to your ChargePoint account. Click on your name in the upper right corner. Click on the top edit button in the 'Your ChargePoint Notifications section'. Uncheck the box next to the notification you no longer want to receive. Click the 'Save' button. Team ChargePoint" The charging starts to slow down after nearly 2 hours of charging with fully depleted battery or when the third blue led charging indicator started to blink. Also, my Prime is fully charge with only 16 miles max added to the battery instead of 20 miles as the specs say. Is anyone ran into the same issues? Any thoughts? Keep in mind that that's ChargePoint's mileage estimate, not Toyota's. In any case, as far as usable charge depleting (EV) range, a Prime is claimed at 133 MPGe, or about 3.95 mi/kWh. It's also claimed at 25 mi EV range, which would be 6.34 kWh (and then there's rounding error and the possibility of having been depleted further into the pack due to hybrid driving style that I've not accounted for that could easily explain 6.4 kWh usable in the pack). Basically, I'd say that ChargePoint did their math based on the original stated electric range of a Prime (22 miles) and the full stated capacity of the pack (8.8 kWh). At that efficiency, 6.4 kWh is exactly 16 miles. Keep in mind that the pack needs to have another 0.5 to 1.0 kWh or so of usable energy for charge sustaining mode, to act as a normal hybrid, and then some buffer to avoid damaging the pack from excessive charging or discharging. No electric vehicle or hybrid will allow you to access the full stated capacity of the pack.
