FYI, Here's news from Ward's about another possible Prius production increase. FYI, Glenn http://wardsauto.com/ar/auto_toyota_bump_p...prius/index.htm
Boy that'd be nice. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there also talk of building a plant stateside for Prii? 2006 sounds familiar. Either way, I hope in about 3 years the Highlander is without a waiting list cause that's when I want to get it.
I've heard that rumor? as well. I'm not sure if they're talking of building a new US assembly plant, or adapting an existing one. In Japan, I think they build the Prius on the same (flexible) assembly line as Camrys (and maybe other cars). If they do that here, perhaps they'd be built in Georgetown, KY (their US Camry assembly plant). Glenn
That reporter appears to be rather ill informed: "The auto maker already had upped its global production target for ’04 to 50,000 units from initial estimates of 36,000, but increased demand could push that number significantly higher, the spokesman says." Since she is so wrong on this basic fact, how can we rely on the rest of the information in her article?
2006 is when they hope to have the stateside Tundra production facility open, which is when the new redesigned, hybrid Tundra will be released.
