VSC / Steering problem?

Are you saying that even though you turned the steering, the car front wheels did not turn at all?
That is really worrisome!

 

This recall is associated with a potential mechnanical deficiency, not an electronic issue or VSC. If your experience was the result of the problem stated in the recall, you would have literally broken a part in the steering column and the car would be undrivable thereafter until the part was replaced.

What I have experienced several times already was that when I hit a pothole and hit the brakes at the same time to slow down while going through the pothole the VSC kicks in and I loose control of the car. I had one very scary instance where I was approaching an intersection with lights. I had a red light and was about to make right turn on the red but there was a pothole right before the intersection so when I hit the brakes the car didn't respond and went straight instead of allowing me to slow down and make a turn. Thankfully, there were no cars going my way and I learned from numerous similar situations to take my foot off the brake immediately then the VSC disengages and then I hit the brakes again making the car stop.

The difference between my situations and yours though is that in all of my instances I did hit potholes and you didn’t. So, I don’t know

 

Sounds like a load of bull...you were probably just drunk , high and halucinated the whole incident...and IF you think it really did happen, take it to your Toyota Dealer and they can fix it.

 

I noticed that this thread began with a first-person description of the experience, as if the poster were the driver but later it was revealed that the poster's son was the driver. My question are: Was the parent actually in the car at the time and therefore has a first-person account of what happened? What was the age of the driver and how many years of driving experience did they have?

I also noticed that the vehicle speed entering the turn and the exit posted speed were not described. Was this a 25 MPH exit that was entered at 40 MPH (which I admit is usually both common and safe for cars)?

I think it is difficult to understand what really happened when the facts (I was driving ... my son was driving) change. Of course their can be faults in the cars system and with an issue as important as this it really is an imperative to determine if/what are issues with the car.

 

Exactly what I realized too. Who was driving? Was the Original Poster in the car? Even with the OP in the car, accounts of brake and steering response are sketchy at best. It's very hard for someone to describe the exact response of the car to another person.
