Hey guys, For the past week or so, I have not been able to play audio via USB through my iphone. It just states that there are no files supported on my "iPod." Bluetooth audio works fine. Anyone else run into this issue? Not sure if this is related to the iOS 10 launch or me using Apple Music. I can't even play podcasts through the Apple podcast app. This was also happening before I updated to iOS 10. I don't think it's the phone as it was going on with both my iPhone 6s plus and my new iPhone 7s plus.
I'm surprise you ever had it working. Apple's lightning connected iPods and iPhones can't connect over the USB port. Thirty pin connector devices and USB flash drives will work. It's possible that the iOS10 update made it even more difficult in your case, removing whatever accidental compatability you had. BlueTooth is the way to go with the newer Apple devices.
False. My iPhone 6S works just fine over the USB port and over bluetooth. iOS 10.2 (worked fine with earlier iOS 10.1)
Welcome to Apple obsolescence. iOS 6 worked perfectly through USB. 7 disabled audiobooks if I remember correctly. 8 disabled podcasts. I can see a new directory structure in the phone where Apple moved these two file types out of the music category to a new category. The car no longer recognized this new location. This in additions to random reboots made me stop using USB in favor of BT. Since the Gen 4 Prius came out while iOS9 was current, I expect each OS iteration afterward to be less and less compatible. Toyota could update their firmware but as of the August 2015 firmware update for my system, it hasn't improved the situation. BTW, my iPod Touch 4th Gen stuck on iOS6 works perfectly. 30 pin
