Any suggestions on removing small scratch on the display screen? or how to remove and replace the screen? Thanks.
Any ideas on how to remove a small scratch on the radio/navigation display screen? Or how difficult is it to replace the screen? Thanks.
Head to the parts store and get some Mequiar's Plastic Polish and microfiber cloths, and be careful about getting any residue below the screen which would get inside the assembly. Then, get one of those clear vinyl screen protectors, on ebay.
When the navigation screen on my '10 five cracked, I was able to find a replacement screen (glass w/digitizer screen only) off eBay. It took me a lot of searching and patience for the right auction to show up. Even when the right auction showed up, I had to cross my fingers that a screen from another vehicle model would be compatible. A '08 7" OE navigation screen fits the '10 and I would assume the '11 JBL navi for the hatchback Prius. I'm not sure if this would also fit the V. Taking apart and replacing the screen is fairly easy if your comfortable with taking apart electronics. If you aren't, then it might be a challenge for you. It's no more than pulling something apart and putting everything back together. Toyota or its part manufacture absolutely do not sell the screen separately or allow it to be serviceable by consumers. If you crack, scratch, etc. your screen, the only solution the dealer can give you is to swap out the unit with a refurb or with new. You might be able to send it away to OE Navi repair specialist, I remember seeing one who offered services for the '10 and '11 JBL Navi units. Good luck with your screen repair adventure.
Were you able to find directions to what to take apart to replace it? I also assume I could order a replacement screen directly from Toyota, not sure the cost.
I didn't follow any guides. I figured my way through it. You can't buy just the screen from Toyota its a non serviceable part. The most they can do is offer you a refurb unit. To fix this cost effectively you will need to find a screen on your own.
Just wondering if you had to disassemble the whole center dash and take out the navigation monitor plus the box, disconnecting all the wires to the system, including the radio, Bluetooth, backup camera, etc... OR did you find a way to just remove the screen, perhaps by folding it down as you would to load or eject the discs? Looking to replace my cracked display without having to pry the fascia plates off. Also, any help you could give on replacing AND finding a compatible screen would be greatly appreciated.
I have a bad touch screen on a 2010 Prius IVwith JBL Nav unit. Sure would like a source for the screen. It looks like it can be removed and replaced once it is in the "load position". Is Ebay the only option??
I'm having touch screen problem too. One side works the other doesn't. Looking for idea's also and install advice.
My screen is cracked too. Does anyone have a how to on removal of the screen? Does the entire head unit have to be removed or can the screen be removed in the load position? Does anyone have replacement touch screen part numbers?
can you provide a picture on how the scratch looks like ? i can tell you by the mark if you need to replace it or not..
