4 Touring spare tire parts list

    We bought a 4 Touring in March with the promise that the dealer would supply a spare and all of the parts. It is finally all here and here are the Toyota part numbers for the proper three pieces of foam for around and over the tire:

    64995-47040 Box, deck floor, RH

    64993-47090 box, deck floor, RR

    64997-47050 box, deck floor, LH

    These are for the compact spare only. The full size spare pieces are also available but the floor raises almost 3.5 inches.

    You will also need the wheel, tire, and bolt that holds down the spare.

    No lose in MPG.

    hum? wonder if the priuschat shop could put a kit together ? with compact wheel and tire for Tour and non tour.. count me in for a 4 non-tour... where do I send the money :)

    What about the plastic cradle with the jack components, is that in the above parts?

    Any prices?

    If buyers start buying this in droves, I wonder if that would be a clear signal to Toyota? Probably not. :(

    FWIW, almost all Canadian levels have a temp spare, except one with all the tech bells/whistles.

    In the USA version the jack and all components are already in the car. These 3 pieces are the "cradle" for all of the parts

    Got mine a couple of weeks ago from the dealer. I got the parts listed there but there are a couple of other differences in parts compared to the gunge kit. The two square plastic hold downs at the front of the foam are different and the now higher trunk floor piece is pushed back toward the rear of the car due to the slope of the rear seats and now has gaps at the front edges of the two fold down side wings. I suspect this should be a different part. The original one has two raised bits at the front sides to go over the bodywork as it's lower, the spare tire one would be flat there. Minor issues and I suspect the floor piece may be expensive so I'm not going to replace mine.

    Interesting. Does that include everything, ie: all the filler foam pieces? I appreciate you said "complete", just IIRC someone else spent around $1200+. Maybe another parts source with higher costs. Or shipping.

    And after all that, is there any ill fitting pieces, or is it pretty much seamless.

    Goes without saying, but it's an affront to have to go through that amount of expense and hassle to get a spare...

    The list of parts was researched using a TWO VIN. Exact fit for the FOUR once the original foam pieces are removed.
    The "carrier" is actually the bolt with a handle that to secures the tire to the floor. The "Retainer, FR Hook Mid" are the plastic assemblies that clip to the floor and hold down the front parts of the foam pieces. The FOUR comes with similar plastic assemblies, but they are not quite right for the new foam pieces that fit around the spare, so they needed to be replaced with the correct parts.

    The thin floor top cover (I believe) is the same for the FOUR and the TWO. The TWO comes with a spare and the FOUR comes with the "repair kit". Since my car came with the thin top cover to cover the foam pieces that fit the repair kit, I did not need to purchase the cover, so it is not on my list.

    With the spare tire, the floor rises a bit. Are the hatch area walls vertical or tapering outwards as you go up? I've had this in my head for a while, that (due to this possible wall taper) the non-spare hatch floor will be slightly smaller, comparing to the hatch floor? Just speculation. And maybe it's close enough, the difference is trivial.

    You are correct, adding the spare causes the floor to rise a bit.

    I measured on the original FOUR (no spare) and TWO (spare) foam pieces:

    w/o spare-- height from bottom of plastic nut to plastic foam deck surface = 2.85"
    with spare-- height from bottom of plastic nut to plastic foam deck surface = 5.25"

    vertical loss of space by adding spare = 2.4"

    As far as I can tell, the walls of the cargo area where the thin floor top goes are close to vertical in this area. It is possible that the thin floor cover of the FOUR is slightly different than the TWO, but for me the cover I have is close enough. Certainly it does not appear to jam or have extra space horizontally.

    I have done this conversion and it's close enough for me, but there is a difference. With the spare wheel parts in the thin floor cover is pushed backwards by the slope of the rear seats, hard against the rear of the trunk and there are half an inch spaces to the front of the little wings at each side. I guess the correct floor would be maybe quarter of an inch shorter at the front to even this out. The cover doesn't jam but it doesn't fit very well into the little hooks at the side for holding it up when you open it. For the small differences, it's not worth paying another $100 or so IMO.

    I don't think there's much of a taper on the walls (if any), it's mainly the rear seats pushing the cover back that makes the difference.

    there are gaps on the sides as the walls do taper- I have a bunch of pictures on the subject in a thread here from my own conversion. Nevertheless the rubber all weather mat does cover most of the gaps so it isnt a big deal.The foam x3, tire and tiedown are the minimum to getting the job done.

    You can knock off the wheel disc and tire for additional savings. Local late model salvage yard should have the donut spare from a corolla for $30. The one next town over from me have a few @ $30....

    I think I might wait till a 2016 w/ spare shows up in a local yard. Those OEM prices are a bit much for my taste...

    Yes, 15" Corolla steel rims are what I use for my snow tires.

    Corolla steel rim, part no: 42611-02471 (2003-2008 corolla or matrix, CE, LS, S)
    steel rim lug nuts, part no: 90942-01007 (plain, open-ended, galvanized)
