    Hi all,
I have a new C, there's less than 1k miles on it, and I'm finding that when the driver's side window is down about 2 inches, it rattles quite a lot. Farther down (half way) it doesn't rattle.
Am I alone in experiencing this?
Also something odd: when the window is all the way down, the door itself expands inward.

it's under warranty. i have seen the door expansion thing in other cars, seems like poor design. but maybe because you have a rattle, some thing is loose inside the door.

The local roads are much too smooth for a test drive to show the problem. I think i'll have to take it to a city with rough roads like San Fran for a proper road test.
They did claim they took the door apart however and said they found nothing. That took about 4 hours.

That is too bad. Longo Toyota has a dedicated man-made rough road track just for rattle diagnostics.

You sure its the glass? These doors have window frames, so not sure how the glass could move. Maybe its something inside the door, did they remove the door panel to inspect?

My driver side front door makes rattling noise if the window is not fully closed. However, I can not feel the rattle anywhere on the door or glass. The noise disappears if I am holding onto the glass. Plan to open up the panel and inspect soon.

My driver side front window rattles when down a little bit as well...(2014 prius 3) drives me nuts, the area with the cup holder that is closest to the drive knob also just started rattling from time to time, requiring a swift bang or two.. also the head liner in the back makes a ticking noise sometimes, coming from the back seat dome light area... I am the only one who's noticed them but I'm kind of OCD about my Prius and have high expectations for it... other than that and the super skimpy paint job, I love everything about it

The Gen4 liftback is not much better. It was really surprising to find out how "cheap in build quality" these cars are. They are loaded with good technology, but material quality and assembly quality have gone downhill in my opinion.

I realize no vehicle is perfect, nor free from occasional flaws. I've only been on this website a few short months, but it's disturbing to see how many complaints there are about things going wrong with the Prius. It seems like the "complaint threads" outnumber the good threads by about 5 to 1?

Nothing wrong with complaining of course, that's how we learn. But Toyota has been making the Prius… 19 years? More than enough years to get the bugs out. It seems like most of the complaints are fairly minor, and should not be occurring. Rattles, and parts falling off, and leaks, and things failing, etc, etc. Assembly line inspections seem to be not up to par, or very lacking in thoroughness. Maybe they have grown complacent.

(Not to mention to keep installing airbag components that were found to be defective!)

That might be true, however all these minor rattles and failures and parts falling off, etc, should have been corrected many years ago. Yet they are still showing up in the new Gen4. Quality control has slowly been going downhill. But I still like the gas mileage! :D I don't care if the bumpers fall off, as long as I get between 50 and 60 mpg.

Window glass rattle can be easily fixed. The issue is that the rubble strips on the top of the interior door panel is not holding the glass secure enough, especially when the window is about half way open. There are numerous ridges on the plastic top hanging bezel of this interior door panel. Over time, the plastic ridges may have been worn slightly, thus creating slight gap. Basically I utilized self sticking felt on the plastic ridges to insure secure hanging to the metal portion of the door and, at the same time, pushing the rubble strip ever so slightly more toward the glass.
