I still haven't found my lost key, but when I looked in my file drawer for the little metal ID tag, I discovered that there was a THIRD fob in the packet of stuff that came with the car. Strange as it seems, I've lost one and still have two! I also learned that if you shop around among online OEM Toyota parts vendors, a new fob with uncut key can be had for about $120.

    a key that works with a Gen 4 (2016 or 2017) Prius?

You are both wrong. The lost fob is still lost. The one my wife usually carries in her purse is now in my pocket. The one I found in my file cabinet, which I tested and returned to its sealed plastic package, is back in that drawer.
