Hi. I'm new, so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong spot. I'm trying to decide between two cars and wanted opinions.

First car is 2015 Prius Two (dealership says it's a Four online but I think they're full of crap) with 37,100 miles

Second car is 2014 Prius Five with 52,500 miles

The 2014 is about $1000 more than the 2015. Does it really just boil down to preference? Or are there improvements in one model over the other? I don't know how to put a price on luxuries in an older car vs. a new battery in a new car.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Welcome. The Five has a different suspension, fake leather instead of cloth seats, and the 17" wheels will not deliver the fuel economy of the 15" wheels on the other levels. Is it a base Five or does it have NAV or the Adv. tech package?

Both cars are too high mileage for me but you didn't mention pricing.

The midlife update was in 2012, so in theory, the 2014 and 2015 vehicles should be identical underneath.

It boils down to features, price and mileage that you want.

There is quite a bit more on the Five over a Two but if you value mileage vs. features, then go with a Two.

The Five adds to the Two:

    • LED lowbeam headlights with auto-leveling
    • Automatic on/off headlights
    • Foglights
    • P215/45R17 tires on 17" alloys
    • 3-door Smart Key System
    • SofTex-trimmed seats
    • Heated front seats
    • 8-Power driver's seat w/ power lumbar support
    • SofTex-trimmed steering wheel
    • Display Audio w/ navigation (6.1")
    • JBL GreenEdge Audio System with 8 speakers
    • Advanced voice recognition
    • Entune App Suite

The Five can be optioned out with one factory package - Advanced Technology Package

    • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
    • Pre-Collision System
    • Lane Keep Assist
    • Head-up Display
    • Premium HDD Navigation with 7" high resolution LCD screen (standard nav is flash-based. This one is hard-drive-based) with split-screen capability
    • Safety Connect

    Warranty for all Prius models

    3-year/36,000 mile comprehensive
5-year/60,000 mile powertrain (includes the Power Split Device or eCVT transmission)
    5-year/unlimited mileage corrosion perforation
8-year/100,000 mile hybrid-related component coverage (this is the hybrid battery and inverter, among other hybrid components)

What would be considered good mileage for you? That 37 K doesn't seem that bad

the total mileage isn't bad except it's a lot for one or two years. if the price is right, and they both ride well, i would buy the one with the options you like.

Personally, I would buy the 5 without hesitation. The miles aren't a concern to me.
But then again, I'm the guy that bought a 2012 Prius 4 with over 100k miles on it ;)

    I'd expect 15000 miles/year.
