odometer reset

    If the 12 volt battery is disconnected, is the odometer setting retained in the computer?
    I think I remember reading that the time and radio settings would be lost.

    Not a Prius tech so I can't say for sure, but I suspicion that settings like that are stored in non-volatile memory and would not be affected by disconnecting the power to the 12-volt system. Just a guess, though.

    Much like the memory used in digital cameras, no power is used to retain data.

    So nothing will be lost, even if separated from the hardware it interfaces with.

    the only way to change an odo is to have a wrong number mistakenly programmed in at the factory when ordering a new one.
