When you take delivery (for those of us who have not physically seen the car until then) what should you look for/ask/make sure you do before leaving the dealership with your new shinny Prime?
Other than the usual checking around for dents, scratches, scuffs... take it out for a drive. Does it drive straight? Any strange noise? Covered by warranty and it's a toyota afterall =P
Ask to see the Pre-Delivery Inspection, that should be pretty good hit-list. Verify a few of the items on it, whatever catches your eye. Tire pressures, two fobs, the Owner's Manual and Warranty/Maintenance Booklet, Tonneau Cover, floor mats. You could also pop the hood, eyeball the anti-freeze levels, check the washer fluid dipstick, engine oil dipstick, if your really want to go nuts, lol.
Turn off backup beeper, change "times of flashing of the lane change signal flashers " from 3 flashes to 5, check for any accessories you ordered (floor mats, whatever). I also had them turn off vehicle speed linked seat belt reminder buzzer (I always wear my seat belt and don't need a reminder). I think a full charge is the least they can do. Make sure it has a jack (under left rear seat), and a tool kit (not sure where it will be but it's a triangular pouch that includes the lug wrench/jack bar). Make sure the charge door opens and the cap is on the left side (if its on the right side it can jam the door closed).
Make sure the A/C and heat work, in EV mode. My wife's new car had a refrigerant leak, but as we bought it the winter, we didn't notice we had no A/C until spring... In the Prime, you would have no heat as well (heat pump...), so you'd be less likely to miss such a problem. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I had my whole list ready to go when I got my car. Once there I was so excited to get the car I forgot most of it. Went over it all once home.
I quizzed them to see if they knew more than I did from reading PriusChat (turns out the one guy and I were nearly dead even)
Me too, that's why I threw away the one the dealer provided and replaced it with one that says, "Plug in POWER!". And I peeled off the dealer's name stickers too.
bump. if they wan't me to advertise for them, they can pay me. I can live with a license plate frame (at least it holds the temporary plate on until the real one comes in), but I won't take a car that has a dealer logo stuck on the paint.
Did they reduce the tire pressures on all 4 tires to usable pressures? All 4 of mine were 45psi. Did they charge the car up, and is there even a L2 charger at the dealership? If so, can customers use that L2 charger for free? What type of dealership labeling do they place on your car? Un-removable sticker, riveted badge, or user removable license plate frame? Did they make you pay for some hocus bogus vin etch or fabric treatment? +1 on the annoying backup beeper. If you can, make that a n/c condition of the sale. Did they set up the Safety Connect for you? Does the 3 mos. free SiriusXM radio work? If you have a smartphone, can they show you how to DL the software and connect it with your car?
