I have the level 2 prius but I just love the look of the OEM 17 inch wheels. I've seen them go for $600-700 on ebay. Are they worth it?

They look much better and handle better. But you'll end up getting lower mpg compared to the 15s. The upgrade with tires will usually about $1000 if bought separately

17" for 600 is too much in my opinion..

That's a very subjective question. It's worth it if you really like the look. I don't have an issue with the lower fuel economy and price. I have an issue with ongoing tire replacement. A set of tires could exceed $600 for the rims themselves.

I have 17" oem dark grey rims on my personal, I just got new michelin premier a/s.. acceleration is slower due to heavier non lrr tire.. but it's a quite tire and better smoother ride

IMHO, I don't think it's worth it. Why would you want added weight (low profile tire & 17" wheels weigh a lot more) and uncomfortable ride in addition to worse MPG?

I'm getting between 53 to 65 mpg.. what do you mean worse mpg? 17's make the ride more firm vs spongy 15" tires..

It's generally acknowledged that the 17" rims and low profile tires will be a bit detrimental to mpg. It's not a lot though, and the 17" are better looking. That's what swayed us to the Canadian Touring Edition. If you just walk into a dealership parts department (in Canada) and order the 17" rims they're something like $399 apiece. Then again the 15" are $350 each.

The handling is not that different though, in my experience. Just the ride is a bit cushier with 15". Every winter I switched over to Michelin X-Ice, and that's my impression.

can't you order online? 300 a piece is insane.. I'd pay max for oem is 150 a wheel.

my mileage actually went up when i switched to the 17s i got them for $400 with tires like new, my 15"tires were cheap doral 60s so this could be attributed to going to lrr tire. I think its totally worth it its an EXTREMELY high quality forged wheel

can you post a pic of your wheels please.. a forged prius wheels are way to expensive.. for my taste.. (2k dollars) I'd rather spend that money on a decent sound system upgrade.

I bought some for my base model and like the looks, and can deal with the reduced gas mileage. Does anyone know how to reset the the computer the speedometer is off by about 2 mile per hour with 17" wheel?

Speedo cannot be changed, and the diff in of between 15" and 17" isn't much (17" have a bit smaller outside diameter). Speed error is due to legislation: to try to encourage people to slow down. It's illegal to show speed lower than actual, so manufacturers (sensible) err on the other side.
