    1991 BMW 735i - 13 MPG!!
    1999 VW GTI - 19 MPG
    2007 Subaru WRX - 22 MPG

Quite the improvement in fuel efficiency.

SOOOOOO much slower than all of those cars. :p

Hey, I am thinking of making a switch to the prius coming from Evo x. Need something more practical for daily driving through traffic and less experience on maintenance. Just wondering how it was switching from a WRX to the prius? Also how is it in the winter? I test drove it but the area they let me drive it was like speed limit of 30 I mean 0-30 it was decent, I mean I am not expecting it to be fast or anything just don't want to have regrets.

So like I said, the Prius is zippy in town, especially in PWR mode, but it is by no means fast compared to a wrx or evo. It's going to feel slow, no matter what. For me, I'm a guy in my 20s, there was definitely an ego blow going to the Prius because well, it's a Prius and I no longer had that on-ramp pop it in third and be glued to the seat thing. People cut you off more, and you feel very small on the road. That said, if the majority of your time is spent in traffic, on the freeway, tootling around town then the Prius is fantastic. No more stressing in traffic worrying about burning up your clutch, and the reliability is phenomenal.

And in the winter, it handles surprisingly well BUT as you probably know, tires make a lot of difference. My mom's prius had Continental TrueContact all seasons and I drove it in packed snow, and it would hum right along, passing trucks and suvs. The traction/stability control works very well, and the lack of power means you can modulate the gas pedal well to avoid slippage. The stock tires on my 2016 are terrible, so I may replace them with the continentals or go to a summer/winter combo and get some Blizzaks.

    Hope that helps!

So ya, the Pri G4 is by far the most luxurious car I've ever owned. Actually maybe even counting rentals.

Thanx for the detailed reply! I am definitely finding my self constantly stuck in traffic or behind slow drivers, so I haven't really enjoyed driving my evo in months, and the maintenance is expensive so I just can't justify it. I am in my 20's as well and I think it's mostly an ego thing as well that's holding me back. Being stuck in traffic for 2 hrs with super short gears and a bare-bones cabin is really getting to me. Thanks once again I couldn't find any one who switched from a similar performance car to a Prius, and any one I ask for the opinion just think I'm joking or something.

I originally had a supercharged GTP Grand Prix myself, and went to a 03 Matrix 5 speed which had a few upgrades. After driving it for 12 years, I got the 16 Prius. Yes, I miss the raw power of my supercharged car and 5 speed matrix (of course no where near the WRX), but going to an automatic with DRCC cruise is SO NICE in traffic plus so much quieter than my previous cars. Surprisingly, even though I haven't done an actual test, but it is very quick on the on ramps for merging when pressing the throttle. One day I want to mash the accelerator to the floor and see just how fast I can get to the end of the on ramp, which has to be over 80 MPH easily and wouldn't be surprised if its 90+.

I see the photo of your PRIUS - I didn't realise they were selling Thermo-Tect LimeGreen paint other than in Japan. Was it a special order?

I don't get excited about cars anymore. Huge waste of money. Don't need anything fancy, or expensive. Not trying to impress anybody. A car just gets me from point A to point B.

I should have kept my 1995 Camry. Simplicity at it's best!

I trading this complicated Prius for a Ford Pinto.

I have a list of over 70 if I really go back. Mostly sport cars or high hp sedans. I love my Prius for what it is- a daily beater that will always be reliable. No illusions of grandeur here.

A few of what I have now are in my signature. You can add a 72 chevelle, '09 GTR (Track car), 2010 rrs, 2 bikes, and a nissan frontier to it for now.

Yah I think I'm going to miss the raw power from the turbo 334 whp and the great handling, but the fatigue form driving that car esp with so many potholes in Chicago is just really bad. Thanx for the input though! I am still waiting for the recall to blow over in my area.

I'm not going thru the whole list, as there have been quite a few in the last 30 something years... at least 12-15.

    Currently owned vehicles:
Last daily driver was a 2003 Acura CLS 6spd that I drove from new until now (14 yrs). Dealer wanted to give me $100 in trade, so I kept it... I'll do a little work on it, and post on craigslist.
Still have a 2000 Honda Insight that was involved in a accident (hit black ice on overpass last winter). This was my first hybrid vehicle... I need to figure out what to do w/ this one (repair, part out, use as donor vehicle for another insight).
1979 VW Westfalia project. Been sitting for years after engine lost compression on cylinder #3.

I had a 1976 Pinto MPG model back in the 80's... it was the station wagon model w/ different gearing than the standard Pinto.

    1994 Saturn SW2
    1985 Subaru GL (HB)
1976 AMC Pacer (boy, was the lemon yellow appropriate)
    1971 Plymouth Duster

As you can see, not a car person. Just get me from A to B safely and with all the crap I'm carrying.

Before my current 2016 Prius c I had a 2009 Prius, and before that a bicycle. I hope my next car will be full electric.
