I'm not sure if I'm exaggerating, but I traded my 2015 corolla S for the gen 4 two eco, and on power mode, I think it accelerates quicker than the corolla S on sport mode. Would any agree or disagree? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I wouldn't doubt it. The Prius motors give you additional oomph from a dead start. My Prius seems to be much better at zooming out of an intersection or up an on ramp into traffic than my previous GM model.
Ah yes... the PWR mode. You're singing my song! But you can actually get the same "power" in all 3 Prius driving modes. Just stomp on the pedal. (Takes a little more effort in ECO mode.) You can also get the same exact gas mileage in all 3 modes. But that's another story...
The Prius has the battery to give you more torque from a start. Corollas are probably a little quicker at highway speeds.
Do u think it would strain the motor to have it on pwr mode for a long duration? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
It wouldn't. That's for sure. The gas engine is very durable. People have to floor their Prii often to get up to speed or pass on the freeway. It's not like you're flooring the car constantly. I leave mine on PWR all the time and normal in heavy freeway traffic.
No, the only thing that changes on PWR mode is the throttle sensitivity. You will get worse MPG if you don't adjust the weight of your foot. You need to press harder on the gas in ECO and lighter with PWR. When you floor the gas pedal in PWR and ECO, the car accelerates the same speed. The first 75% of the pedal is more/less sensitive (probably).
Stupid feature. I've never even pushed that button. Now if it activated a supercharger that would be a different story.
I was actually surprised to notice how much quicker it accelerates from a stop on pwr mode. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Yeah, and that's how I spun the wheels 3 times. And then I heard a BANG! when the traction control kicked in. Be prepared for that. Scared the crap out of me. My gas mileage was the same in all 3 modes, even a little bit better in PWR mode. But I was just driving normally, not racing around.
Eco mode: gas pedal harder to push, and cuts down AC output. Normal mode: gas pedal feels like my Camry did. PWR mode: Zoooooooommm!
