Last night, driving home in the dark I heard one beep from the car and looked down just in time to see a red screen with one word on it in large black letters. Unfortunately,(or fortunately?) it disappeared so I just got a glance at it. I don't know what it said. It never happened before or since. I have a '16 C with between 7K and 8K kms on it. Fortunately I'm scheduled for my first service at the dealer in 2 days so will mention it to them. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Richard
Could be the Pre-Collision System (You have the Technology trim level so it has TSS-C). It could be a false positive that the system quickly resolved and therefore cancelled the warning. I've had it occur a couple of times, particularly on bridge expansion joints with the metal bracing. It'll quickly flash "BRAKE!" (which has a red background like you described but on my car, the letters are white) and then stop once it figured out everything is ok.
Could be the braking warning. It was gone in a flash and I thought the letters were black but white would show up better. I wonder if it would have been logged in the car's computer. I'm going in to the dealership tomorrow (thot it was today :-( ) so hope to find out a bit more.
The pre-collision warning system flashes a distraction ?!? Wonder what the screen says post-collision . . . "TOO LATE!"
Well in the Gen 4, I'm guessing: (Press brake pedal) Since the car only holds the brakes for a few seconds after intervening.
So, I went to my dealership today for my 8K "first" service and mentioned this to them. I asked them to see if there were any residual codes in the computer that may give some indication of what took place. Of course there were none. So its documented should something remotely related take place within the next 8 years So for the time being that's the end of this for me.
