I bought a nice Prius with 156k miles on it. I changed engine and transaxle fluids right after buying the car. The bottom pane under the engine oil drain is missing. Is this a problem? I'm in Florida. I removed 3 push pins from the panel under the transaxle and need to replace them. These pins are fairly big in diameter and go into holes in the frame cross-member. My Toyota dealer is not sure what the part number is for the pins, they don't have any in stock, and I have to pay in advance of ordering them. Could someone help me with the part number and a good place to order them? Thanks Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I think you can find them on this drawing. I think the -07215 is the smaller one, and the -09227 the larger. -Chap
First off, your Toyota dealer is terrible if they can't even figure out how to order a push pin. How are they supposed to figure out how to order the right engine parts when they can't even figure out a little piece of plastic that's been used to hold plastic panels on every Toyota sold in the last ten years? Anyway: There's a large-ish panel, and it has a small portion which is like a door for facilitating oil changes. This little oil change door frequently snaps off, and have to either create a hinge to put it back on, or else replace the entire panel which the door is attached to. What happens if you don't replace the little oil change access door? Nothing. Your engine will get a little dirtier. It will probably cool a little better.
Rebound, I agree that they are pitiful for this reason. Thanks for responding with more information. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I've attach a pdf of a panel service bulletin, with pin part numbers. Personally, I would replace the entire panel, and ensure the flap is not used in future, that the entire panel is removed. But I'm pretty obsessive, lol. Also, with the pins, if you rinse them out in hot soapy water every time you remove them, they will last. Underpanel pin part no's: Large pin 90467-07201. $2.43 ea Small pin 90467-10183. $1.80 ea
