Update: Toyota honored the warranty and fixed it free of charge. Yeah!

It seems my Prius battery has died just 2 days outside of the warranty period. And it's only got 93,000 miles on it (California has a 10 year/150 mi. warranty period). Needless to say I'm gutted. I'm trying to get Toyota to honor the repair (or at least part of it) because, well, it's only been 48 hours but no luck so far. Has anyone encountered this same issue or know a number to call at Corporate that might help? I've had nothing but a great experience with my car so far but if I have to shell out $2,000 because my Prius is 2 days out of warranty, I'm sorry but that's gonna be a very bitter pill to swallow. Any help is much appreciated!

I would say if you contacted Toyota corporate already, they would not let you down. They should cover the repair

I would also ask your dealer about "Goodwill Warranty".

A dealership read codes, said it's dead?

Yes, it's dead. Verified by the dealership. The dealership has stepped up and is asking US Toyota for a goodwill honoring of the warranty. Spoke to US Toyota as well yesterday and they too said they would see what they could do. Fingers crossed! Should know in a day or so.

I'd like to update this post by announcing Toyota is super awesome and honored the warranty giving me an entirely new HV Battery free of charge via 'Good will'! I'd like to thank my local dealership, Toyota of Marin for going up to bat for me on this as well as the Regional/National office who had to approve it. Toyota and Prius rules!
