It's back! Here's my Excel spreadsheet for US and Canada. If you're on a mobile browser, select the PDF formats with "mobile" as a suffix. The PDF is created for each tab in the Excel spreadsheet.

To navigate the Excel spreadsheet, look for the tabs on the bottom right. You can navigate between "What's New" for the 4th generation Prius over the 3rd generation Prius and navigate to each model year to see what the prices are/were, the standard equipment and the option packages.

Interesting that the extra charge for the pearlescent paint is significantly more in the 'States than Canada.

One thing that popped into my head while walking the dog today: if they could have improved the TPMS sensors, say made it possible for the car to recognize more than one set, allow new sensors to be introduced easily by owners, maybe cut the cost of new sensors, or made batteries replaceable.

Hmm, so it doesn't open in mobile browsers, interesting. It's in .xlsx format. I'll keep that in mind. I may have to keep re-saving it as a PDF format as well as Excel.

Yeah I had to double check that but Toyota is offering BP and Ruby Flare Pearl as $255 extras on the Camry so the price is correct for now. TCI has been increasing the price for 2016 in response to the dollar. The Highlander has gone up by $1,000 on average for each trim level. There's one or two extra equipment (like tonneau cover) to offset the rise.

Thanks for the detailed work. The Sea Foam and blue actually look different on a whole car.

    You're welcome.

Yes they do. I tried my best with the colours, sliding it around the palette until it looks close to what I remember in real life. The Sea Glass I think could do with a bit of tweaking.

The Midnight Black has a bit of green in it if you look hard enough, which I think is correct. (I do recall in certain light angles at the Las Vegas reveal that Midnight Black Metallic had a teal tinge to it.)

I recently looked into UK spec - they pay double premium for some exterior color paints &600-800 (if I am not mistaken).
But have leather interior options, motorized mirrors parking on most trims and much more flexibility with optional stuff.

That premium for certain paint colours, especially the exorbitant amounts, is starting to sound like the latest cash cow.

It's probably no consolation, but most manufacturers have done that for years. We reserved an early 2010 Prius. Our 1st choice was pearl white, until we saw how much Toyota wanted to gouge us for it - so we settled on Sandy Beach metallic ... one of the least popular Prius colors.

lol. Remember when Mazda charged $105 for metallic paint (which was practically all colours)? (even as late as on the 1G Mazda3). Nissan also did that at one point.

But now at least it's included and only "3-coat' paints are extra cost like Mazda's Soul Red Mica or Toyota's Blizzard Pearl.

In the UK, there's an upcharge for anything other than non-metallic white or black (and sometimes non-metallic red)

Some cars - you want a 'stock' color, you have to buy it packaged with a ton of other stuff you may not even want.
. . . . that color for example, coupled with all the options necessary to get the color - will cost you in the thousands. In essence, ΒΌ the cost of the stripped car's version ....
That's the other sneaky thing manufacturers do. They force you to get a lot of junk you don't necessarily want just to get one feature. The Camry Hybrid comes to mind. If a woman wants lighted vanity sun visors, she has to get the $1,500 sunroof.
