Hi Guys, I am new to here and hello to everyone. I am going to upgrade the sound system for my prius v and i can't really find the information for the depth of the factory speakers. i have one here and the depth is about 3 1/16 inch and i am concerning whether it is too depth for the replacement. Appreciate for any comment. Venpat
I don't have the answer that you're looking for, but if you install anything worthy, you'll most likely not have room but there's plenty of room to build the speaker opening out towards the panel. This is precisely what I did in my installation. Check out my thread, here: Yes another sound system install. | PriusChat
Thanks Drewintoledo, do you mean i can get a spacer and the speaker mounted to this? According to your thread, how thick of the spacer you make for your vehicle? Thanks
spacer is a good word to define what I built. I used whatever wood I had lying around... I think it was 5/8". I just took a small scrap piece of it and set it next to the hole. Then I placed the speaker against it and used it as a spacer to test fit the depth. Be sure to have your window DOWN. The magnet on the back of the speaker did not hit the window while it was rolled down into the door cavity so I decided the wood was thick enough. I cut a hole in the wood and built what you saw in my post.
Thanks Drewintoledo, I'm form Australia and this the term to describe it. Another question and i hope you can give me a clue. I took out the front door panel during the weekend and it should be enough room to install the 6.5 speaker. However the guard from the door panel is decide for 6 x 9" speaker and how can i enclose the gap between speaker and the guard to ensure this is no sound leakage from the gap. Many Thanks,
