Is it wise to buy a 4th gen prius that parked outside for long time. Car was manufactured in 2015 December, imported to my country to 2016 February. Till now it has parked outside in a car sale. If it is ok what are the things specially I must check before buying?? Thanks Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Well the usual car stuff will be to check the condition of the 12V battery (that's the regular car battery). Make sure it wasn't drained and it was properly kept. Cause if it was drained, then it'll have a shorter service life and you have to replace it sooner than normal. As for the hybrid battery, hopefully the dealer didn't just leave it there and that they drove it around once every few months. Otherwise, I'm not sure what else you can check on your own. They're in Sri Lanka. Pretty sure they don't have to worry about unit conversions
Flat spots occur when a car sits too long in one spot without moving. They are pretty obvious, google search what they look like. Its basically a failure in the metal tire banding due to constant pressure. Overpumping the tires will not help, the structural integrity of the tire has been compromised.
Yes we have toyota dealer here... they do all kind of repairs... since there's no warranty I will hv to pay. We hv somereliable places than toyota dealer here. I don't know weather u believe sometimes they do good job that toyota dealer for less money. But they don't hv updating toyota technical manuals
it's the same way here, dealer only for certain technical things on the hybrid systems. i think you will be fine with the car, all the best!
This li-ion thing scares me... that's the only concern..if someting goes wrong with li-ion battery replacement will be cost big amount.. I can replace the battery If I survive from the dangerous fire that li-ion battery cause.please do search abt boeing dreamliner 787 li-ion battery.. worst cases in aviation ever... that's why I so sensitive abt this problem...
Those batteries involved in fires, like the recent Note 7, are different things altogether and not the same as the Prius.
Li-ion needs temperature monitoring when charging... If the sensor doen't function well it'll be a disaster isn't it?
My understanding is that the car is smart enough to take care of all that for you electronically. But wait and see what others with that model give their advice first.
The car I mentioned here is a japan domestic version...It comes in japanese (in km)... I will hv to change it to English. When changing to English will it change to miles?
Unless things have changed, the computer cannot be changed from Japanese to English. If the seller is telling you it can be, make them do the update before giving them any money.
I don't know abt a spiders... but mice is a good point.. i hv seen some urban cities become mice kingdoms at night...it can do lots of damage to a car like this with lots of wires...
No I asked from a technical guy who does hybrid electrical, electronic things with ECU...he promised me to do it for free... he told me it is not a big job... after doing it i'll update u guys with the steps to do it.. If u want to see the japan domestic versions don't go to Japan. . Come to sri lanka... most of the vehicles here are japanese version vehicles... these days we are having high taxes for vehicles...otherwise we get the very latest models very quickly here.. I mean if a company launch a particular vehicle today tomorrow I might see it in the road in SL...no environmental familiarisation testing... most of the time toyota dealer launch vehicle after two or three months after the vehicle launch after doing necessary tests.
If you decide to purchase the car, here's hoping that all goes well. The Prius is a great car and very reliable. Take good care of it and it will take good care of you.
