Hello everyone, I'm thinking of buying a Gen 4 Prius as my first car in life. I would greatly appreciate if any current owner can help to provide measurements about cargo capacity. Here is what I've found on the internet about a Gen 3 prius, I hope Gen 4 will not decrease any of the measurements Height 26.5" measured from the deck to the center roof line Width across the rear deck 40" (not counting the side pockets) Length measured from end of deck mat to the top of the right rear seat folded down 60" Take it with a grain of salt, the interior is not square box with those dimensions
There are a few YOUTUBE videos which show clearly the size, but maybe not dimensions. There are 2 different cargo spaces, depending on whether it has a spare tyre or not. Not sure about Canada - lots of things have country-specific differences. I'd take a tape measure to your TOYOTA dealer - the basic measurements are a bit confusing, due to the shape. I find it's more useful than some others with supposedly larger dimensions, but that would depend on what you actually need to fit. The only downside I've encountered is that the tailgate opens very high - and I have to watch that it doesn't hit on ceiling beams or roller doors etc.
Thank you alanclarkeau! I'm just wondering whether Gen 4 Prius is able to carry my mattress which is 74.1 inch long (188cm) and is 40.2 inch wide (102cm). Really appreciate anyone's comment on this. I'm not a tall person so there should be no problem for me to slide the front seat to the most backward position to give maximum cargo capacity. Thanks everyone!
Do a search for something like Camping - in PriusChat search - I've read a few reports. I think I saw a YouTube too - or it might have just been photos in PriusChat - of some conversions, though most are Gen 2/3. The model with spare tyre has an almost flat floor, but without spare tyre has greater room, and should be easily able to correct the stepped floor with either a useful storage box or other packing. The key is to rig something up which will extend the rear floor when you slide the front seat forward - WITHOUT BLOCKING THE HYBRID BATTERY VENTS.
