Actually - if that isn't your usual display (you adjust via the "TRIP" button - that might be the LOW FUEL DISPLAY - stage 1. Not sure about where you are, but here, there is an icon of a bowser (fuel pump) which "INDICATES REMAINING FUEL IS APPROXIMATELY 6.4 LITRES".

And try to read the manual. It is daunting 800 pages, just finished mine. But it is worth it. You are bound to make a few discoveries. I found that for me the best way was to load it in a tablet, and read in the car when I have time.

FYI, you at least have 25+ miles till empty once the dashes come up with normal driving but wouldn't go much more than that myself.

My gas light only came on ONE time... and this message popped up on the big screen. I think there was 19 miles left.

Now I never let my tank get that low anymore. I fill up when I still have 1/2 tank left. (I actually LIKE going to gas stations, so I can get a big hot dog! And a Lottery ticket! Crazy old dude.

this is the kind of stuff that makes p/c interesting on this side of the pond.

I accidentally hit the gas door button when I was cleaning the inside of the car.

But when you start moving, the message changes again. It says something like, "Gas cap filler cover open."
(And the nice lady's voice comes over the speakers... Stop and close the gas door, dummy!)

 

There's this one trying to tell you something too:




Lots of progress over the years: my parents had a '58 volkwagen. The gas gauge was a stick.

 

I remember the stick, Mendel! My uncle's VW Bug had it. He lived in a small town in Illinois, USA. It had one diner. One gas station. Wow, that sure brings back good memories.

My parents, me, and my 3 sisters all had Volkswagon Bugs when we were young. My dad insisted on it. I guess he wanted all of us to learn how to drive a stick shift. Then a few years later, (1971?) my mom got the orange fast-back model... Called the Clementine. (I don't know if that was the actual name of the model, or the color.)
It was very sleek for the day.

But of course, by then they had gas gauges.

Remember the two levers between the seats, you pull up to turn on the heat?? And my bug had no defroster, if I recall. And no AC. And just an AM radio. THOSE WERE THE DAYS...

 

There was a time when cars had temperature gauges too. Seems that has passed ... with PRIUS.

(no aircooled VWs didn't, but I put an oil temp gauge in mine.)

 

anyone one with lane departure warning, purposely swerved out of lane to get the beep and tug
back to stay in your lane?

My sales guy said if you do this 6-7 times in a session, a picture of a coffee cup comes on the
Main display screen and says take a break, or words to that effect. So, you know I had to try this!

So in the daytime, on a less traveled street, I swerved out of lane 6-7 times in a few minutes.
The coffee cup display came on, and will stay on until you power off!

I though it was neat! It is time for my nap.
