So i just had my first 10K Oil change at the dealer and the tires have gone from 10/32 down to 8/32 all around evenly. So this would suggest that i should get around 40K Miles if i ride them until 2/32" . This is with casual non aggressive driving, About 80-90 miles a weekday with about 60 of that highway 65MPH speed. 40K doesn't seem like a lot. I don't know what the factory supplied tires are rated to last but the replacement OEM versions on tirerack are warrantied to 70K. Hopefully the replacements will wear slower.
According to Bridgestone the tires have a 70K mile warranty. I would expect that your wear rate will decrease.
I am now between 4/32 and 5/32 at 53,000 miles and thinking I will need to replace my OEM 17" Bridgestone Ecopia 442s before the first snow. I am inclined to replace them with the same or similar tire, but I noticed that it's specs vary slightly depending on whether or not it is made in Japan or Mexico. Any thoughts on whether that makes a differnce? Or if I will be missing out by not looking at some other low rolling resistance tire?
Was the 8/32nd tread depth based on what was reported on your service order or did you measure it yourself? I find my dealers tread depth as reported in the service report is not always as accurate as my measurements.
What they measured. I bought my own tool and today they are still 8/32. Mind you i had one Winter Tires from Novemberish until Marchish but im very happy with the wear so far
I've never gotten the rated life out of a tire, not even Michelin. I think the tire life test is done under highly controlled and unrealistic conditions. I loved the Ecopia EP422 on my gen 2. Had two sets. Plan to put them on my gen 4. Who cares if they only last 40k. Do you wear your shoes till they hurt?
It varies by vehicle. I would guess it depends on what the factory has on stock at the time of manufacture. Mine have the Ecopias but these are the Japanese ones that are not rated for 70K. According to Tire Rack the tires are made in 3 different countries and have tread and warranty differences.
I just replaced mine yesterday after 64k miles. I had about 40% city 60% highway averages. I just made sure to rotate the tires every 5-7k miles. I replaced with a 65k rated Cooper Eco Tire. Found NTB had Buy 2 get 2 free and I paid $394 OTD with alignment included. Lifetime repair on the tires as well as lifetime rotations.
