I got a really good deal on my gen3 4 with deluxe solar trade in and picked up a 2016 red /moonstone atp and pcp! I am not sure what to do though, finance screwed me. They slipped in a $1500 extended service warranty after I expressly told them I did not want any extra warranties. They also made the term 63 months instead of 60 and hit me with 3.6% apr even though according to their system I have an 813 credit score and was told by the head sales manager I would be 3% or less.

I should have read the contract better-----

An odd thing happened. They printed the contract, I signed it, he immediately tore it up saying I signed in the wrong place. He was hitting quite a few keys to reprint and finally I signed again. Its embarrassing if I really signed the wrong line so I just did it and did not double check everything. Immediately after I signed he folded it up, stuck it in an envelope, licked and sealed it.

I am not sure what to do. I sent an email explaining the situation to the sales guy and head manager that were involved in closing the deal. If I need to go back out there I will (its 170 miles away). Has anyone ever been in this situation before? Can they reissue new paperwork or have I signed in blood?

I should add I still have the title for my trade in, the second key, and owe them a check for $6500 as part of my down payment. I was to mail all these things to them on Tuesday. I am not sure if these could be used as any leverage.

You definitely have some HUGE negotiating leverage here.

Just a guess here. But if you didn't take the new car, or trade in your car. They don't have your money. All they have is a signature. The loan found by them, is shopped around. Although I'm sure they know exactly where the get what rate with a given credit score. But if the rate is all you can get then that's all your going to get. Maybe they low balled the rate, knowing you can't get that. Sounds like it could be a bit of a sleazy dealer. Let us know if they straighten it out.

I got that Toyota 0 percent credit. I filled out the credit application online an hour before going to pick up the car. As I walked in they said 850, stellar. I don't know if there was a minimum number.

they have my trade in and I took the car-
but I wrote the sales manager and he is going to escalate to the GM on Monday to try to make it right. They are in Indiana so by law nothing is opened on Sunday....

at the very least, you are not obligated to keep the extended warranty.

I plastidipped the wheel covers but did not do the actual rims. I am on the fence, might just get the center caps.
Previous car had the stock black rims with silver center caps

I'd suggest that seeing you've modified the car, it's past the point of changing anything, definitely returning it. But I'd have a go at getting the extended warranty cancelled.

Yeah the warranty is the big issue and after much research it looks like I will be ok. I will need to combat the high interest with paying it off in 1-2 payments. A long as I can GE that padded $1500 off I can recover

I really like the look of the interior with the red. Moon roof is cool. I couldn't justify it though.

I reviewed everything I signed carefully. I read fast since I read contracts regularly for work, but I read everything and made them wait until I was done. If they started talking while I read, I paused until they stopped and then continued reading. I encourage everyone to read anything they sign for big purchases, and ask questions about anything that you don't understand. If their explanation doesn't match what you're reading, say so and don't move on till you're satisfied.

Call Toyota Financial. They will cancel your extended warranty, but the refund will go to reduce what you owe on the loan. I would also complain to them about the sleaze ball dealer. Call Toyota Customer Service and file a similar complaint. The clock is running, you need to do that ASAP.

I am honestly happy with this car, I just don't like th
So i just got off the phone with the financ guy, it is exactly as stated... They are dropping the warranty and its going to come off the loan.

The loan now is also at the right % so it looks like i can actually become a happy new prius owner!!!

Only thing about the interior i need to watch is if it gets dirty quickly. Its not white as it appears, its a light gray but i suspect it wil, need to be cleaned from time to time moreso than the dark interior

    Nice!

I'd still file a complaint though. I'd feel bad about giving that shady dealer business. It was the head manager that tore up your first contract? Or a guy in the finance dept?

We had a dealership print out a contract, settle on a price. Then a reprinted contract was placed in front of us, it went from a Toyota letterhead to dealership letterhead. And surprise surprise: Documentation Charge went from "included" to $295. They actually acted offended when I protested.

Explain to the GM that you're holding on to the customer satisfaction survey until you are satisfied and made whole. If it means as much to them as they want people to believe you should be able to get something out of it. Personally, for pulling that kind of fraud I'd be inclined to slam across the board on the survey. Any employees that lose money over it can discuss the situation with the owner.

Think about how many customers they've pulled this on that didn't realize they paid an extra $1,500.

Toyota will send you a survey in a few days. Tell the GM you're planning on giving them the lowest rating if they can't make things right.

You just took their word, on the phone? I'd be down there in person, actually watch them delete the old contract, and wouldn't leave until I had everything in writing and a new contract in my hand! (And then I'd punch that sleazy finance guy in the nose!) And you should contact whoever is financing your car, and make sure they got the new contract, too.

And what happen to the ZERO PERCENT Toyota financing deal?

    ===

    For all the young folks:
Never be in a hurry to buy a car. Never hurry thru the paperwork. Stop, and think!

Why are we people so excited (me too, when I was young) to get a new car??? Then about 2 weeks later, the new buyer comes crashing down emotionally, when you realize, "Oh Sh*t! I got FIVE YEARS of payments!!" And the monthly insurance premium is how much?!? Crap!! Never thought of that!

I've seen it happen time and time again, coworkers signing off on loans for new cars that they really can't afford. They are all excited and happy, bragging about their "new wheels"... Then a couple months later they are depressed and complaining about the payments! :ROFLMAO: Aren't we humans weird? And very soon their "new" car is dirty all the time, they don't have "time" to wash it, and maybe it already has it's first door-ding....

The balloon popped, the party pooped, and all the fun of having a "new car" is gone!

But they are still staring at 5 or 6 years of payments... :( and grumpy as all heck.
