Your need an anemometer and a weathervane, perhaps of an old guy with a scythe. Think I saw one of those sometime!
A pitot array measures the air pressure and wind speed of each tube. A little math gives you the actual wind speed based on the differences in the measurements. Here are some details: Pitot tube - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Then if you hack into the nav you've got your ground speed vector, and can add to get absolute wind speed and direction.... -Chap
May I ask WHY you need wind direction/speed indicators? On a Prius? Just buy an old Cessna 172 and put blinkers on it.
