Bush supporters are now the Flat Earthers of American politics, immune to evidence and argument. Thanks for sharing, Doctor, and good luck to you.

You're welcome to your opinion about the usefulness of Bill's actions (or inactions, as you see it) wrt world policy, but please don't try to BS us that you're not trying to bash him. You're selective citing actions/inactions that are designed to make him look like an idiot. In an almost amusing sort of way the strategy is laid bare with your comment on Ms. "Halfbright." This is, believe it or not, what's known as "bashing".

Here's an alternative take: some believe that war is ultimately futile, even when you are the superior force, and that the only way to achieve peace is through peaceful tactics. With this in mind I wouldn't say that just because Bill didn't go bashing heads at every opportunity it means he did nothing. It just means he didn't do what you seem to have wanted him to do. I'll admit that I can't really judge the ultimate effectiveness of his policies, but at this point I'd say the bashing heads policy isn't doing any better. (It may have taken some of the death and destruction away from *us*, but there's still plenty of it to go around) (( And yes, I do realize Saddam was killing his own people, but I don't think he could match the rate at which we've helped Iraqis to die in the last 3 years.))

Not experiencing another terror attach here is proof enough for me at this point.

Having the "bad guys" on the defensive and worrying about their next breath, and not being able to use electronic devices (except al-jazeera), and not be able to plot and plan is good enough for me.

Having more bad guys dead and captured is enough for me too - and we are not creating new terrorists above what would have been anyway. they existed before 2003 and they will exist long after 2007 - it is just a matter of making them as impotent as possible.

And I strongly disagree with your premise that we have killed the same # of Irawi's as Saddam would have. Even the media estimates that 30,000 have been killed, the majority of which have been at the hand of the islamofascists themselves --- far fewer than the 100,000's of thousands we have discovered in mass graves that were put there since 1991 -- not including the 100,000-200,000 Kurds he gased/murdered or marshland arabs, etc. At least we are trying to protect the innocent civilians and give them freedom and liberties as compared to Saddam who did his best to imprison them, torture them, rape them, murder them, terrorize them, limit their access to a free press or education, etc, etc.

So from my perspective - the common Iraqi is much better off today and much safer too - and polls of the common Iraqi confirm this with over 70% wanting the US to stay at this time.

Look, we all know it's all Clinton's fault...
George junior says so every day so it must be true

Exactly why are republicans still so afraid of the Clintons?
    Doesn't matter why...Run Hillary run!

Bill achieved more even with rabid republicans barking at his heals for 8 years than the shrub will achieve in his with all 3 branches of government on his side excusing his every dumb move.

Our society needs a leader, not a village idiot

It's good that it doesn't happen here, but it still happens. We've just shifted the locaction..

I doubt that not being able to use electronic devices will be their downfall. They're always on the defensive, it's practically their way of life. This war seems to me a lot like the war on drugs. We'll always have some victorys and want to say "we're winning", but they always come back.

That's a pretty strong assertion to make with no way to verify it. Seems to me one could argue that we are creating even more of them. How can we possible know how many there would have been anyway?

I wasn't speaking in total, rather, at the rate at which he was killing people at that time. Sure, he's killed many, many more people, often during times in which the U.S. supported him.

On this I agree with you completely. We went over there and trashed their country (yes, I know, some of it was due to Saddam's poor infrastructure, but we did our part, too), and I believe now we have a duty to stay there and help rebuild it and stabilize it. We owe them at least that much.

To beat a dead horse here, mercenaries aren't innocent spectators because they chose their risk, and aren't subject and accountable to Geneva conventions (and the crappy VA benefits with stolen personal data). A war of justice fought with unbounded personal armies. For me, martyring based on hypocrisy is contemptible.

How is this related? I'm just talking about false martyrs.
