key fob cases??

Our pair of fob cases arrive today from China. These are everything advertised, I am completely satisfied with the fit and finish. I spend a lot of time outdoors playing golf, my old Prius key fob got destroyed from years of sweat and abuse. What's most impressive about these new fob cases are the buttons are completely protected by the silicon covering, I expect the fob to outlive our new Prius!

 

Anyone use a waterproof bag or case to take the fob swimming/diving? I'm still not sure what to do about that. I used to put my car key in a lock box but the fob doesn't fit and this probably wouldn't work since it would be too close to the car.

 

It says free shipping but when I add it to my cart there is a shipping cost. Do you think they just changed this?

 

I just now took a look and added one to my cart. There's four shipping options to the US and one of the options is free. I don't know what the shipping costs are for other countries.

My options to the USA are epacket for $2.44 (for the qty 2) or DHL for $25.89. Maybe it's my phone browser or the qty. I'll try on a PC tomorrow.

I've been using a Tom Bihn "Coyote Organizer Pouch" Nano $8.00. The fob fits snuggly, with no room to spare. Great protective case, but no access to buttons without removing the fob.

 

How long did it take you to get yours?

You should get a tracking number starting with "LT". This can be searched via USPS once it reaches the states.

Same with my pouch, but I never use those buttons anyway. Total protection for the $1,000 magic "FOB."
You can't leave home without it.....

I just don't like the Fob dangling off my key ring. If I drop my keys, the Fob goes with it (even if it's in the little rubber sleeve, I just don't want to be dropping it.) Thus... the Pouch. It always stays in my pocket.

 

Based on the USPS tracking, it took about 5 days from the time I ordered (give or take a day because China is a day ahead) for the package to go from China to USPS in San Fran. It's taken another 5 days since then to arrive at my local post office in Hawaii.

 

It arrived today and fits perfectly. Thanks to the original finder of this on this forum.

Those using the China case, is the door opening the same as it was without the case? Half the time it seems to take a while or I have to move it closer to the handle. It's not a big deal but something I noticed. I'm still going to use it.

 

I haven't noticed a difference with or without the case.

 

I did check after putting it in the case and it still works the same. No difference with or without case.

At first glance at the title I thought people are concerned somebody can steal their 2016 Prius using a fob range extender, and are looking for a RF blocking pouch.... Wrong

This reminds me putting a TV remote in plastic bag. Car remotes are tough. The one for my 2005 Prius went through washing machine cycle and is still working fine ( I took it apart and dried the internals of course)
