Fog Lights for Trim 4

I believe these are the said clones from alibaba. The dealer (not authorized) who sold me my jdm gen 4 managed to secure a bunch for his gen 4 customers. I haven't mounted them yet but the mounting points look legit. I've been sizing up the wiring harness that came with it. there are 4 wires that go to both l & r lamps. ground, fog, drl and drl dim (orange). the fog draws about 0.7amps per side. the drls about 0.5a and the dim orange about 0.1a. unfortunately the existing pre wired harness in my gen4 uses a different Toyota connector (the grey one in the middle of the picture, the white ones are what came with the clones n harness) so I may have to either use their harness. or if I wish to use the pre installed Toyota harness I will have to convert and re crimp the white connectors into the grey Toyota ones. Toyota crimps are available from hi-1000.com via rakuten online store and I am awaiting their delivery.

they were about 200usd for the set. I did ask if they would sell more but they are for their own customers only. I noticed the alibaba vendors are listing at 100-150usd per set but I don't know if the moq still applies. the quality looks fair enough. i will report back when I have tested the fItment, waterproofing and bulb performance and life.

Yeah alibaba is $100/set but that's wholesale.
I'm concerning about these "Chinese" leds and how long they last as a lot of Chinese made leds burn out quite prematurely.

 

spent the morning mounting the lamps. quite difficult. they don't seem to align fitment wise very well. not sure if the original is any better. might just be a bumper moulding flex thing. besides the 3 screw points, there is a 4th flat vertical tongue on the bumper that needs to slot into the lamp at the < and > edges of l & r lamps. all 4 do not line up so some forced repositioning is required otherwise the screw misses the hole. this is not helped by the lack of space to maneuver back in there. for some screws I had to finger tighten so couldn't get them fully tightened. my feeling is the blanks fit much better. next
will be on to the electricals.

You need to have small hand to go in there . The space is limited in the spot . If you can lift the whole car that can make a big difference. Pls post pic when you finish the project. It be nice to know that it came out great.

Well if aren't oem, you can report it to eBay and they will take down the counterfeit listing.

 

for that price it could be genuine as that is only for one side.

I feel the same way about those gray wedges. I bought the most expensive car and I'm still stuck with gray wedges. I have a plan to install attack lasers there. Those big loud pickup trucks better look out!

 

It would have been a better design idea for Toyota to have those in the back. We could replace them with retractable middle fingers for tailgaters

It is OEM, as now with the part #, you are able to do a part search at different Toyota dealer parts
inventory. The other side light is 8122047030.
I did find it priced at $269 EA, but I think you have to add shipping.
Still too expensive!

They have both side but at 280.00 each. It way too much . I posted this from ebay a month ago. It a dealer .I was planing to put in there red reflector. At night they look better than what we have now! I want the same shape as it is now.

It would be just dumb to pay $280/side when I posted a link earlier in this thread from another Toyota dealer selling for $190/side.

 

finally got down to posting this pic of the clone mounted. I was going to get the tape marks cleaned off first but it seems like they are not coming off. not even goo gone works. oh well haha

 

Will these be for sale? Look fine to me (minus marks).

 

finally managed to get the tape marks (mostly) off! took about 2hours of fingernail work with some help from googone. my nails were sore for 2 days esp the thumbnail. at least now you can't really see the remaining residue from far..

You mentioned in an earlier post that Toyota had fog light wiring behind the blanks.
Did you use these, or used the harness that came with the lights?

I did order OEM lights, and waiting for it to be delivered.

you can use either actually it's fine. I'm not sure if the Toyota wiring is really for fogs. but I noticed one wire turns on whenever your parking or headlights are on and I used that to join to the fogs. so I don't have a separate independent switch for fogs, they will just come on whenever my lights are on. the other wire I couldn't figure out what it was for, measuring it was always off.

to get the drls to work opposite of the fogs I need to use a 87 changeover relay and tap a 12v that comes on only with ignition.

post us a pic of the oem harness connector when it arrives ?
