Yeah. Dylan is right. Most of the time is spent putting in the new LED's. I can have the dash disassembled in about 15-30 mins.

Of course you can. I would imagine 5 min after taking a red bull. ;)

I had ask because I am sure people would want this mod. Suprise no one ask except me, do I want it of course :p.

We should do a mod strip dash party where sean takes apart everyones dash on the block and we all take pictures.

    Wait .....

Negative. These are vacuum fluorescent displays. Creaking these open is like committing suicide

For retrofitting the instrument cluster ...

    upload_2016-9-16_22-47-10.png

    upload_2016-9-16_22-48-12.png

Notice each LED has a letter indicating its OEM color: B, G, R, Y

    upload_2016-9-16_22-53-24.png

The 10 LEDs in the / \ pattern are the white backlight for the steering wheel control display. Then you have the two X patterns which are the amber backlight for the steering wheel control buttons. Then there is the four staggered LEDs for the indicators on the left, and the row of 5 indicators at the top.

    That's a total of 49 LEDs.
For all of the above, I recommend the Oznium 1206 type LEDs here: 1206 Surface Mount LEDs | Oznium

For the two VFD (vacuum fluorescent display) modules, the only thing you can do for them is a transparent overlay. I purchased a RoscoLux sample swatchbook on Amazon.
These Rosco films are used in professional studio photography for flash filters and lighting filters.

After some experimentation, I found that the "Brilliant Blue" was the best choice.
It photographs really well. But to the human eye, the blue filtered VFD display still has a greenish hue. I think it's worth experimenting with some other choices.

    .... fyi @sd1810

I am all game. So many damn leds. My sentra cluster has 3 bulbs lol.

    Will order.

Btw, you will not get the exact blue because green is a primary and blue is a primary.

I cracked open @sfv41901's Navi HUD. After that it seemed like it wasn't working anymore. I removed the film and it was still acting weird. A couple of days later Sean reported that it was working again. Bottom line, the HUD is yet to be conquered.

And on the topic of Homelink Mirror ... and updates from @sfv41901?

This particular job required about 25 LEDs, which go for around 49 cents each, roughly. I happened to have enough LEDs in my spares box, so just asked for an even $100 to cover materials and labor. For the bigger jobs (like a Gen3 with window switches, navigation head unit, steering wheel controls, etc ...) I ask for double that.
