Hello, so I was wondering if there are any software updates for the Prius 2015 model? I heard of something called Etune, but my car wasn't built with apps at all. Its the type of prius that has this screen with a lack of apps if anything....http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/jCwAAOSwMsVXjOz-/$_1.JPG.....notice how the dash doesn't show the name "apps" on it.....so yea that is basically it.....I heard you can insert a usb into the car and it will update, does this apply for my model? I really wanna update my car but idk if I can, mind giving me some tips guys?
no, no updates. entune is the entertainment system you use with your phone. i thad (has) a lot of glitches, and they keep coming out with new versions, but they don't help much. kind of the microsoft of car audio.
Yea, my car was never built was entune, it just had a standard computer system...are there any non-entune updates?
nope, toyota doesn't do that sort of thing. sometimes, if there is a safety issue, you can bring it in for a software flash update, but nothing on the 2015's iirc. you can plug your vin into the owners website for recall info. if you've owned it since new, you would have received a notice.
You might want to edit your first post ... it looks like you tried to supply an image link and then say ".....notice how the dash doesn't show ..." but the way it is now, that first ".....notice" ended up as part of the image link, so the image doesn't show. When I chopped that off so the image link just ends in .JPG then I was able to pull the image up. Still, the image is too small for me to read the faceplate number under the bottom right corner of the screen. The updates to headunits aren't generally treated as recalls ... it would only be a recall if for some reason the old software was considered dangerous. Otherwise it's just an update, and you won't necessarily be notified of it. If you sign in over at techinfo.toyota.com (it's a $15 hit for two full days of browsing), click the TIS tab up top, enter your model and year, then click the TT/SB tab (technical tips and service bulletins) you can find if there are any bulletins regarding an update to your headunit. (You can also find many other service bulletins about your car, some of which may be of interest to you even if they have nothing to do with your headunit.) There's also a QTG tab (for Quick Technical Guides) and one of those, QT616A, is all about how to recognize which unit you have, and what capabilities it does or doesn't have, by photo and model year. -Chap
I understand, but is there a free, way you could suggest me for seeing if there are any downloads for my headunit? My headunit number for my radio is this....57031
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/jCwAAOSwMsVXjOz-/$_1.JPG This is the link for the picture to the radio btw...notice how there are no app buttons, its a non entune radio. Refer to the first post I made on this thread for my info associated with this.
I didn't care too much to look it up for this forum....Idk what model it is but lets just say its a 2015 prius hatchback non plug-in.
the reason i mention it is that the head unit comes by model. i'mguessing you have a 2, but not sure. i didn't realize they even made a screen without apps.
Seems to me there was a thing called "Display Audio" and another thing called "Premium Display Audio with Navigation and EntuneĀ®". Seems like the 57031 is the first thing. If the difference between $15 and free is critical, asking your dealer is probably the most straightforward option; if it turns out there is an update, you may need the dealer to install it anyway. The only unknown in asking the dealer is whether your question actually gets to someone who knows how to find the answer. If you had a headunit with nav, I'd probably recommend waiting for November or so, as that seems to be when the latest updates will come out. I don't know whether a similar schedule applies to the non-nav units (or whether there are any updates at all). -Chap
Yea I don't know really, but yea if anything mine doesn't have apps, and is similar to a standard computerized headunit.
Its non nav if anything......so yea you don't know of any websites I could do it myself for free? Like the toyota website for example?.....its a 2015 model btw.
