Can Blind Spot Mirrors be attached on the outside mirrors? Outside mirrors are heated power, so I afraid the blind spot mirrors may come loose later.
No, when you lock the car they fold - though they can be folded at other times, I guess if negotiating a narrow carpark. I was just wondering if your add-on Blind Spot Mirror would have clearance once the mirrors fold.
Mine haven't fallen off yet. But I've only used the defroster/heated mirror function sparingly. (I bought spares if I happen to lose one.) I've always added blind spot mirrors to all my cars. I can't see without them. I think you can see it in this picture. (Alan, our U.S. Prius does not have auto-folding mirrors. Wish they did. Ours are manual.)
I installed those mirrors on my Jetta years ago, on heated mirrors. The bond was still strong when I took them off and reinstall Ed them on my new Prius iPhone ?
Those are probably the biggest blind spot mirrors I have ever seen! They take up like half the mirror LOL. But hey if it works for you, good stuff
I like those BSMirrors, much better than the BSMonitors you have to pay extra $$$ for. We paid over $500 for BSMonitor on my wife'e car, Other than beeping, it tells me nothing about the other vehicle's speed, how close it is. Sometimes during lane change, it will beep since the vehicle is shifting closer to the other vehicle that was two lanes away -- false alarm. We ended up installing the same mirrors on my wife's car as well.
Yep, it's a 4" round mirror. But I still have about 5" of regular mirror left over. I always rely on the blind spot mirror when changing lanes... (Old eyes.)
I slapped on those mirrors as soon as I left the dealer! (I brought them with me.) I pulled into a parking lot around the corner, stuck on the mirrors, and tore off the Dealer paper plates/advertisement. First things first! I don't know why, but I just can't get those outside mirrors adjusted properly so that I can see cars, and change lanes. It's weird. So I gave up years ago, and just went with big spot mirrors. Problem solved.
You don't need "blind spot mirrors". Check out on YouTube how to adjust your outside mirrors correctly to eliminate, yes e-l-i-m-i-n-a-t-e blind spots. Set your mirrors so that when a car just moves out from your rear view (centre) mirror it should move into the view of your side mirror, and when it moves out from your outside mirror you should pick it up within the peripheral vision of your eye. It is that simple! Generally speaking you need to move the mirror out so you can't see the side/corner of your car unless you move/ strech your body sideways. No need for electronic gizmos and add-on mirrors. If your trainer told you otherwise, like "adjust your mirror so that you just can see the side of your car" he was wrong. This setting creates the dreaded blind spot. Did the side of your ever hit you? Not possible! Note: The side mirrors of older cars could not be set out far enough to set the mirror properly. Ya I never saw the need for extra mirrors. It's a matter of figuring out where the car next to you hits your peripheral vision, which for the Pri is further up than my last car because the window edging is fatter. But it's still completely workable. Knock on wood, haven't cut into anyone yet!
Blind spot mirrors are actually very simple. They're generally curved mirrors that attach to your vehicle's stock side view mirrors. The size of the mirror limits visibility of the reflection for the driver, and passenger side view mirrors are naturally convex to cover the blind spot.
