    Hi:

Why on a 2016 Prius is there no toggle switch to change from miles to kilometers???????

Someone at Toyota decided. No-one from Toyota posts here, so we will never know why.

There is a software "toggle" and it's answered in the owners manual pages 139-140.

I wonder if it's even legal, to omit this capability? I'd it's a screw up, I mean it's readily possible, previous Prius had it.

So many deletions on this gen though:

Temp spare (1/2 the US levels)
    Second glove box
    Under hatch floor tray

And ongoing omissions, what most typical cars would have:

    Tachometer
    Coolant temperature gauge

(The first is no great loss, the second I sorely miss.)

^ Excuse my semi-archaic prose; I'm watching Ken Burn's series on the US Civil War, and it's language is getting to me. :)

Some sort of kmh/mph display has been a courtesy on every econobox we've had, lol.

For a while in the U.S., it wasn't even a courtesy, it was a requirement, as a preparation for our upcoming (i.e. before Reagan's election) metric conversion. Until this 2016 Prius issue came up, I had not been aware that this requirement had been rolled back.

Funny thing. You're right about pages 139-140. However, apparently it only works on higher trim levels than my Prius 2. In the manual there is an asterisk next to the km/h mph that indicates that it comes in cars with intuitive this, automatic that. So since I bought the basic version I'm stuck with mph and I live 30 minutes from BC and frequently go there. Truly unbelievable. Must be a software oversight...right?

Apparently later-built models have it. We bought ours around March and it doesn't have it either. We have the Touring model.

You're right. That was the response from Toyota today. And there is no possible fix they say. Not sure where I go from here. But considering this and the fact I cannot get a roof rack so I can carry my kayak (dealer said Toyota offered one before I bought it but they don't nor does Thule/Yakima yet) I'm quite let down.

How? It looks to be just a software. That seems ridiculous.

I thought Toyota does offer a roof rack? (just not the attachments)
