I was a ScanGuage devotee for our first maybe 4.5 years of ownership (a 2010), but it may have been causing issues, weighing on the OBD port, causing an intermittent disconnection, and subsequent "check hybrid system" warnings. Anyway, about a year back now I disconnected it, and have found it not a great loss. The main thing I miss is coolant temp.
With my Gen 2, I use Engine Temp to know when to pull over, to make sure I get into "S4" when Starting out. I'm told that for the Gen 3, it can do it during a long glide as well. So maybe it doesn't matter as much. I wonder how Gen 4 does it?
Funny, I am getting the opposite reaction to the look of the car. I have people coming up to me all the time and asking what my car is and are surprised when I tell them. Everyone that has seen it tells me that they think it is realy nice looking inside and out. Even my wife, who thought my 2007 Prius was ugly, thought my 2016 Prius Touring was nice looking. It did help that it was a blizzard pearl with black softex interior. It also had black pinstriping, which came with with the car. I like the look. Beauty and ugliness is in the eye of the beholder. iPhone ?
For the most part, I like the look of the car. I wonder if the extreme design elements might quickly date it. I'm thinking of fins on cars in the late 50's and the rear headlights remind me of those in that respect. There are a couple things that I don't like. But I find that I feel that way with most things in life. What is important to me is that it has the features that I like and that I enjoy being in the cockpit.
Well said. I like driving around all day with my headlights on... just so I can show-off the Lightning Bolt tail lights.
I love how the Gen 4 looks. The tail light angles are so much more interesting than the old ones. I notice the Civic 2016 has some sharp angles going on too.
I love the back end of the car. I think the radical design of the lights is great. Even if people don't like them, they are visible!
I was behind two new Civics this morning, when it was still dark. Those tail lights are nice and bright!
I have grown to like the 2016 Prius. Period. Its a Prius, its faster, gets better gas mileage and looks sexy as hell. I'm used to the "Fin" look and Toyota took a great leap of a chance in making a "Hybrid" look and feel sexy. Oh, and also its also affordable.
The fin antenna looks cooler than the whip antenna and less chance of it getting knocked off. My old whip was about ready to fall off. The only thing with the fin is I stubbed my finger on it first time I waxed the roof.
I like it too. I had a funny reaction when I first saw the '16, it was "ugh that is one butt ugly car!" so I guess I get that reaction from some people. The proportions are a little strange compared to most other cars on the road, but after a while it really grew on me and now I think it's actually one of the better looking cars around. It's unique, carries it's own style and anyway, I like the brake lights!
I just wish they would have made the "Z" tail lights (or lightning bolts) to also be the brake lights. Come on with the brake lights.
Yes there are lots of ugly cars around but the Prius is not shaped this way without good reason, Google 'The worlds top 10 most aerodynamic cars' and see the new Prius is number 5 or 6
I think the Gen 4 looks much better than the previous versions. The Gen 4 has been the only version I would consider buying because I think the previous versions are butt ugly. But that is just my opinion.
I love the rear with those LED tail lights and the front. In white with black winter wheels it looks badass.
To the OP and anyone who thinks it's ugly.... In case you're unaware, style is subjective... There's an nice person for every seat
