    Hey Claybird,
First, most folks here DO have a sense of humor...just not when it comes to blowing up our precious babies. I was having trouble signing in to this site for a while, but I had already skimmed the post about your site, so while I was waiting to get back here, I checked youse guys out. My response, without having seen any other PriusChatter's comments was--I'll pay to blow up a hummer. This seems to have been the response from those who didn't tell you you weren't funny. Seems to me you should be on a Hummer board to raise money to blow up a Prius, no? As to those who are bitchin' about it being a waste of film, well, so are most movies, near as I can tell, and they cost way more than your budget. Obviously, I am not of the "Films must have meaning" school of thought--I tend to prefer MOVIES to FILMS. Anyway, for those of us who do not wish to see any Prii harmed in the making of any movie, and will call the SPCP if any ARE, just go HERE...As I said, THAT I would pay money to have happen in a full length feature! (By the way, the one called Expedition who'd "love to see that," well, Clay, guess what he drives...)

Agreed. It was initially funny (the idea of proving someone wrong like that... NOT blowing up our pride and joys!) until this came to mind. I am thankful we live in a wealthy and prosperous nation, but there are still plenty of poor people in the States that could benefit. What if everyone in the US each gave one dollar for some good cause? People could accomplish a lot like that.

That 100k could buy a lot of stuff for people with muscular dystrophy, for example.

I suspect that is not the point. How much good could have been done in the world with The DaVinci Code's ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET? Give these guys a break and go bug Hugh Jackman for his salary for XMen. I mean, LIGHTEN UP!!! <_< How much good could you have done if you had bought yourself a used car and donated the difference between the cost of the used car and your #9 Package Prius to muscular dystrophy, for example? I mean, I have a fully functional '91 Acura here I'd be happy to sell you, below blue book, for $1500--then you'd have how many thousands left for charity?

I brought up muscular dystrophy because I have dedicated quite a bit of my time for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, thank you. I believe the talent could be better spent elsewhere, but what they do is their choice. If I could talk to Hugh Jackman I would... but I can't. I think it was worth it for flareak to bring this up... because maybe these guys may end up with extra money and decide to do something/help somebody with it... after hearing out a bit of opposition on PC. Or they may not reach the goal, and from hearing the opposition decide to give it away to a better cause.

I don't expect everyone to like it. I HOPE that people would just put things in perspective. These guys are making a movie, not saving the world with this. And I expect they, too, do volunteer for stuff just as you and I do, which really was my point. You DON'T know what else they do. This is obviously something with some sort of professional goals for them. You certainly don't have to like it, but how can you presume to tell them how they should balance their priorities? Or what SEEM like their priorities to you. All I said was to lighten up and do not assume this is all these guys do, ok? $100k is really a drop in a puddle in the grand scheme of things...even in the not so grand scheme. Do you think that Lucas and Spielberg started out with multi-billion dollar budgets? Lucas' first film after film school, THX-1138 had a budget of $777,000. In 1971. 2005's Star Wars Revenge of the Sith had a budget of about $113,000,000.

Your saying they should bag their movie idea because it isn't giving money to charity, more or less, is comparing apples and oranges. They are seeking to entertain, and thank god we all have different tastes. You don't think their idea is entertaining. Ok. I couldn't stand the Lord of the Rings movies. So what? Do I think Peter Jackson shouldn't have made them and given all the money they cost to relieve world suffering? Nah. I'll bet Pete does do some good stuff with what he chooses to do when he's not off making people happy with his movies. Some people, anyway...well, lots of people...just not me. But whatever floats his...and your...boats, eh?

What I said in my latest post was that they choose to do what they want their money, and then because of opposition voiced by flareak and others, I suggested that they could donate the money if they ended up with extra (not tell them that they have to do that)... and if the movie did not work out (IE they get some money but not enough to blow up the Prius), that they might decide to do something useful with it because they saw our opposition. I NEVER said that they should bag the idea... just that there is better stuff they could do with it.
