Here is the basic difference if he didn't explain it right. The Prius is a power split hybrid, or a parallel-series hybrid. MG2 is in parallel to the output from the ICE, and will draw power from the battery. Then a portion of the ICE's torque(20something%) output always goes to MG1. This can be used to produce electricity and power MG2. So there is two paths of power going from the ICE to the wheels. While it can be defined as a power-split, the system in the Accord mostly operates in a series mode. The ICE will clutch in at highway speeds, but it is more EV driven than HSD overall.
