Mercedes has a camera that monitors the frequency of your blinking. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You get a message to take a rest and a warning sign also pops up somewhere that looks like a steaming cup of coffee. The coffee thing can be managed in the settings. I turned on everything when I got the car to see what worked and what did not work for me. All of my driving is on local highways. My short 25 mile trip to the closest town is on a twisty state highway. In the past, I've hugged the corners and then centered the car in the lane as I pull out of the curves. After a fight with my new Prius about this, the Prius won. I still get a warning once in a while that I've cut a corner too close but no more coffee messages.
Yes, the message popped up last week while on a 3 hour trip. Edit to add: And I do get the red "Brake Now" message fairly often mostly while going around a car making a turn. I get the feeling I'm impatient.
Like, "Are you being pursued by the Police ?" IIRC, there is a take a rest break setting on the Nav which is customisable in the nav menus.
Like in the commercial??? If you ever are being pursued it might be in your best interest to turn off LKA, etc..
Oh!! Is this how it's done? Will have to check it out later, I'm assuming that option is not selected on mine since I haven't seen that message yet? Does it only work with Nav running or did you mean the setup screen on the Big screen dash display? Thx.
I think it is a Starbucks conspiracy, but it could also be time for a Krispy Kreme. Disappointed my basic model doesn't suggest I stop for a rest. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Ha-ha, my did! It was funny and scary at the same time. Especially when you don't expect something like this.
I have a funny story about that. I was driving the Gen 4 one time and some point during the drive, I felt LDW w/ SA working. The steering wheel was heavy/stiff so I guess LDW was doing its thing so I said to myself, "Fine. if you wanna drive the car, go ahead" and I didn't resist and just made sure I stayed in my lane. It usually lightens up once it figures out you really are in the centre of the lane and are in control. A very short time later, it said "Please keep hands on steering wheel". . Next time, if I'm in the centre of my lane and I feel the resistance, I'm turning off LDW lol. But yeah, LDW w/ SA is cool and less intrusive than LKA but LKA feels more semi-autonomous than LDW w/ SA and can actually drive around gentle corners while LDW w/ SA will probably say "keep hands on steering wheel"
Lexus has a camera that detects whether you're looking forward out the windshield or looking elsewhere.
.I've never had it - looking at the owner's manual description, it must use an algorithm of data - maybe "x" opposite side stray movements within a time frame indicate weaving, whereas the same number of stray movements but on the same side may not. Someone in design has to make an educated guess of actions which MAY indicate drowsiness and wandering on a straight road, but in reality might be a series of "S" bends with the corners straightened a little more than the lines are.
It happened to me with my Prime as well today, but I was also battling strong sidewinds. I wish I had taken a picture, it was a white mug and white text: "Would you like to take a rest?"
I had it a month or so ago - after 14 months never seeing it. There were roadworks, and they'd put witches caps to narrow our lane and we were straddling the middle line of the road. And LKA kept beeping that I'd crossed out of my lane. I could have turned it off but I could see it was only for a kilometre or so. - and then suggested CAFFEINE!! Now we're talking.
I'll intentionally cut into the shoulder or the centre line, on a windy road where I'm definitely the only car, would never do it on blind corners. I'd probably get the coffee cup doing that?
Not with your 2010. Ifond the lane departure alert useless and keep it turned off. No coffee cups for me.
Not to hijack the thread, but.......has anyone had the "Left/A/Window/Open" message?? (or something very close)......I had it ONE time, & can't seem to repeat it......(yes, a window was open)...
All the time - this morning, I pulled into Church carpark for Bible study - car within view of hall, put all windows down 12mm. Turned car off, locked up and it beeped couple of times - telling me that I'd left a window open. Yes, I know - I just did it.
